i put in a clai for over 3k of charges with lloyds. all 3k were accumulated within an 18month period. they refused on hardship grounds.
the fos then said they dont have to refund as they had stopped further charges and interest. currentlyowe them £900 ish. i have called their colelctions today and offered a payment of £1 per month, which they begrudgingly accepted.
BUT
as i was bored, and feel strongly about this issue, i traced the name of the md of lloyds. after calling a lloyds number i found on saynoto0870, and putting on a posh voice, i managed to convince the guy there i was a personal friend who had lost contact. i rang the number and his pa answered. she was very polite and more than happy to put me through, but was unable to. but, by again putting on the posh voice i now have his schedule for next week and will be calling him on thursday when he returns to his office. will be interesting to see his answer to the blunt question, is 3k acceptable for 18 months worth of charges? i wont be rude or anything, just want to hear the md himself tell me it is fair. hoping for an interesting conversation.

If his PA puts you through, she will be for it.0

possibly right, but its a risk i am happy to take. i am 'for it' because of lloyds obscene charges. i remember calling them in tears genuinely feeling suicidal begging them to stop just for one month, only to be told where to go. one guy told me he would halve the charges for one month, which would have helped, but guess what, all the charges were taken.
i have 1000 envelopes upstairs, i am going to write the address of every lloyds branch in the country, plus offices if they have less than 1000 branches, and post them without stamps. will cost them over 1k in fees from the post office.
they are playing petty, but i can play pettier0 -
slight correction after doing more digging. mark stokes is the md of large corporate, i have his number, and have just got th enumber for helen weir, director of consumer banking, by playing the same game. she is off this week but back next week, so will call her first.0

No point.
It won't cost them anything. They will simply refuse delivery.0 -

Then have you argued this point to the bank?

Please do not waste your money posting letters to every branch. Branches will more than likely send them on plus it could even be suggested that it was harrassment, lol.
You need to argue what you have said in the first paragraph because they initially agreed to half the charges and didn't follow through so did you complain about this and what were you told?0 -
hi, yes i complained and the response was that the person i spoke to shouldnt have agreed to that and that it would not be honoured.
i will pay £1 per month as agreed but will probably do it by cheque as it will cost them to process, or is that wrong?
i will refuse to ever pay more than £1 per month though, regardless of what happens.
i would have thought that they would go to the post office to collect letters for data protection reasons, as it could be a confidential letter? i'm not worried about the harassment issue, i wont put my details anywhere on or in the envelope. i am prepared to sink to almost any level of spite/petty behaviour to cost them as much as they are costing me. i wont do anything illegal, but i am hellbent on costing them as much money as humanly possible.0 -
Rather than spending all that time and energy on persuing a vendetta against the bank, why not direct your efforts towards earning some extra money and thereby solving your financial problems?0

i am doing lots of things to improve my income/reduce my outogings. however, even if i win th elottery tomorrow, that wont change how ridiculously unfair and high i think the charges are. its a matter of principle more than anything. like i said before, i think the banks are very petty in what they charge, why they charge it etc, so im just playing them at their own game.0

If the person shouldn't have agreed to the original request then the issue arises because you believed that an agreement was in place and it would be reasonable for you to do so. The knock on effect is perhaps where you are going from there, ie that a loss of £75.00 initially may have lead to additional charges because of it. Hope that makes sense.0 -
hi, yea it makes sense, but as it was verbal i have given up fighting the battle on that one. probably wouldnt have changed much anyway in truth.
i called the md of consumer banking today, and had a long conversation with her pa. i was absolutely 100% honest with her pa, and she said she would talk to the md for me. she also said that she saw my point, and thinks the md will too. she said she would ensure i got a call, and could hear in my voice that i was genuine and concerned!
i got a call from another pa saying the md is now aware of my situation and will get back to me by the end of the week. in relaity, i am very shocked how polite, helpful and genuine they both seemed. maybe, just maybe, something might happen here0
