First Time buyers need help!!!

My partner and I are looking to buy our first property, however we don't know where to start. if anyone can spare five mins to type out a timeline or steps to buying please do! it would help a great deal. do we get a mortgage first, then put offer on house or other way around, we have no clue!!

    Step 1, Work out a budget if you can afford a house and what will happen if any negatives happen (rising rates, job loss ect)

    1.go to see a whole of market broker to establish how much you can borrow.
    2.go to estate agents to look for houses within your price range
    3..get a mortgage agreed in pricipal(this means establish you know you can borrow the money for a prospective property,also some estate agents want to know you are serious and this goes a way to proving you are)
    4.view any properties you like.
    5.make an offer (providing you have agreed in principal)
    6.apply for mortgage

    others may post in different order but in my opinion these are the main priorities.hth

    3.Give up cos there is nothing in your price range.
    4.Wait for House price crash, whilst saving 40% of your salary each month.
