thats a bit harsh sammie. I'm not on bebefit but have been in the past. Although I'm registered blind i claimed I S as a single parent until i had to change over to IB when my entitlement ran out. The benefits system is to tiresome and long winded that I wouldnt have changed over until necessary!
    (benefit not bebefit lol)

I was advised to claim ESA from my lone parent advisor and they knew of the difficulties I have been having with my child since it had started. I am trying to sort it all out with my child who has been diagnosed...we are just waiting for the treatment. It is taking ages and no fault of mine. Your answer really doesnt help...do you know what it is like to have months of no sleep because my child is waking up screaming etc it is like having a baby again!

Believe me...I wish I had some sort of normality if there is such a thing and live in a perfect world with a perfect job and perfect kids but unfortunately life isnt like that.

No sammie. I claimed IS as a single parent as the now DWP said being a single parent was my main condition to entitlement. Even though i was registered blind in 1993, it didnt become my 'main' reason for qualification until my daughter turned 16 in 1999 (when they changed me over to IB for 6 months when I ended my claim. As I see it DWP would have seen the fact she had a child under 12 as her primary reason for qualification and not her mental health issues.

thats a sweeping generelisation! i Used to volunteer vor D I A L. I spent most days completing DLA forms for people that said they couldnt walk 50 metres, when I had just watched them walk the 100 metres between the car park and our office! I was repeatedly told that it wasnt my job to adjudicate, just to word the information they told me. In the end this was the reason I STOPPED VOLUNTEERING.
bUT....... i ALSO FILLED IN MANY FORMS FOR PEOPLE WITH GENUINE NEED THAT WERE REPEATEDLY TURNED DOWN!
iT'S THE SYSTEM THAT IS AT FAULT IF IT DOESNT MAKE SUFFICIENT CHECKS TO ENSURE ALL CLAIMS ARE AS THEY APPEAR.
OUR PADI APPEALS ADVISOR REGULARLY SAID THAT IF HE WANTED TO (WHICH HE DIDNT) HE COULD GET AT LEAST MRC AND LRM FOR ANYONE REGARDLESS OF WHETHER THEY HAD ANY REAL ENTITLEMENT. THATS HOW LAX THE SYSTEM IS!
WHEN A BENEFIT CAN BE CLAIMED AND AWARDED BY HOW COMPETANT YOU ARE AT COMPLETING THE FORMS, YOU HAVE TO EXPECT THERE TO BE ISSUES. ANYONE CAN GET THEMSELVES A MEDICAL HISTORY!

ok lets look at dejas case (sorry deja im using your name only and not accusing you of being one of the 'bone idle!)

For arguments sake. lets say she is finding a reson to stay on benefit.
    Dont couples do this too?
and obviously her child has a father, who by the looks of it doesnt contribyte anything to the care of the child.
Shouldnt he be chased instead of castigating her for having a child with special needs?
not everyones ability to cope with situations is the same.

Sammiedoodle - you appear to have mistaken this thread for a soap box at Hyde Park Corner. If you want to fling your opinion about, start a thread in DT.
This thread is for constuctiuve help and advice for the OP.

sammiedoodle, if you look at the stickies on this board there is one from Martin Lewis confirming what Errata has said. Perhaps you could start a thread on DT to share your opinions?

In the meantime I'm hitting the ignore button...

OP, the same happened to me. The DWP claimed that the HMRC had told them I was receiving WTC. It had the result of also stopping my LHA. Personally I complained via my MP and everything got sorted out relatively quickly - try writing to the previous incumbant.

BTW you were lucky, The JC+ refused to allow me to claim IS (DS2 is 2) and insisted that I had to claim ESA instead, to be honest it has been one of the most stressful experiences of my life and, if you can avoid it, I would suggest that you do.
