What do i do???

i listed a mobile phone on eBay, listing it only for UK postage.
All went well, lots of bidding mainly from the a few people outbidding each other as normal, then listing ended and the winning bid was from someone from the USA, his one and only bid outbidding everyone who had bid over the last few days.
The first problem is i never listed the postage for anywhere worldwide, just UK only. Secondly, the person who won has private feedback and an address in 'Yonkers' in New York with a PO Box number!!!!!
I didn't send him an invoice, but i did email him as soon as the listing finished stating that i was not prepared to send him the phone as i did not list it worldwide and that i found his feedback and delivery address very suspicious.
I also asked why, if he was going to bid, he didn't email me beforehand to ask if i was willing to send it to the US and how much postage would be???
What do i do now?

Tricky one this...you can set your seller preferences to stop people bidding from countries you don't ship to and there is the possibility that the US buyer just assumed that as he could bid you allowed overseas bidders.
You can't cancel the sale now so whatever you do it remains eligible for feedback. However no one can force you to sell something, so stick to your guns and refuse to ship. You may end up with a non performing seller complaint, but as long as your account is otherwise good that won't matter too much.
I wouldn't send a phone overseas as the Royal mail no longer cover their loss regardless of the postal service used if they are over £32. So just explain politely you made a mistake, as did he in bidding, and that you are going to offer it to the second highest bidder.
Personally I wouldn't have mentioned his postal address and feedback as it is immaterial.

OK, now my advice is different. THis is a scam so ignore him and just go straight to a second chance offer.

...he's just sent me payment via PayPal even though i told him not to, i think he just ignored my emails.
what shall i do? can i refund him the money?:wave:0 -
Yep dont even entertain sending it to him! Tell him the auction stated that you wouldnt send to outside the UK and that is the end of it. Give a second chance offer to the first losing bidder.Weight Loss - 102lb0

Refund it straight back! Email him and say that you arent shipping it to him, if he says or does anything else tell him you are going to notify ebay and paypal of the situation.Weight Loss - 102lb0

Yes you can refund the money, but make sure you send a proper refund and not a new payment. Log into paypal and then into the transaction. Towards the bottom of the page there will be a refund button, click there and follow the instructions.
