    That is so cool!

I went to see SATC2 at a mum and baby screening today. The film was good, H was good, but the other babies were noisy! Glad I got to see it though.

    Hi all

Loooong outing to hospital (and still didn't manage to get my bloods taken...)! It didn't help that the appointments for OH were exactly at the times of E's normal nap. So I was riding herd on him for a long time as he got more and more over-tired and struggly and we waited for stuff.

The good news is, baby looks good and strong heartbeat and everything as it should be :) which of course is a huge relief :)

As they finished scan and were sorting out pictures Elijah went a bit off the rails and I said I'd take him down to the car and OH could catch up a minute behind me... only it turned out that after I left they explained they were concerned about her bp and wanted to take it a bunch more times and a urine sample etc. Luckily E was willing to fall asleep in car seat so I read a book for 45 mins while OH had more tests done :/ seems there is a possible trace of protein in urine and we have to call them on Friday for results - she is expecting to hear she has developed diabetes :( fingers crossed that it's nothing.

I hate it when i tell people we dont drink and they say "How do you have fun then?"

I like say back "Well dont need alcohol to have fun, we simply enjoy each others company without having to rely on drink"
When I was a student I used to find all my friends would say they couldn't dance because they weren't drunk yet. I'd point out that I always danced without being drunk but they just thought I was weird. (Which is probably true but that's not why I'm able to dance without being drunk.)

People also used to think I didn't drink because of being a Christian which is really infuriating because that's not the reason and I don't want to mislead people into thinking that Christians can't drink.

I don't think those are signs of GD. Don't know if that's helpful or not but just saying in case it is.

I agree Susan - protein is usually things like cystitis or other kidney stuff I thought, but with high bp and some of her other more general semi-symptoms she is paranoid (her mum died basically of complications from type 2 diabetes). Waiting to see.

Susan, EA, I'm not a teetotaller but I don't drink to excess - I like good wine, but only in moderation. And I'm totally happy to dance sober ;)

It's always annoyed me that people are so defensive when there's a sober person around, as though the one who's not drunk is judging their drinks. I don't care what other people are doing as long as it doesn't affect me and they're not taking anything stronger than marijuana. I loathe the effect that most drugs have on people and can't abide being around people under their influence.

Yay Mrs Bruno growing a healthy bubs! I'm sure the protein isn't anything serious.

It's fairly understandable that she's worried then. Are they planning to give her a GTT? I can't remember when mine was but I think it was somewhere around the 30 week mark so presumably they don't think it would be an issue earlier than that. If it's something she's particularly worried about, it's probably worth her mentioning it to the midwife (or consultant - whoever she sees) as they will be more knowledgable and able to reassure her. I would expect them to offer a GTT anyway since she had an immediate relative with diabetes.

I had a GTT at 13 weeks and one at 28 weeks because I have a family history of adult-onset and gestational diabetes on both sides of my family and they wanted to make sure I was ok. Also because by 28 weeks I was massive and they thought I had a gigantinormous baby :rotfl:
