Lol Beenie at u buying the quinny, we are terrible, I bought the zapp on a whim too, someone needs to restrain us!! I played with the buzz in mothercare earlier and it was lovely to push around.
Well MIL had Toby earlier whilst we went out and he was very good apparently, yey!! He ate his dinner and didnt have any milk and just started looking for it as we got back, so I fed him myself. We went to mothercare and a few other shops, plus asda. They didnt have the oyster in mothercare, not that I was expecting them to really, but looking at the other pushchairs etc it has just confirmed to me I think it is an oyster or joolz that I want now. Deffo gonna try and get a second hand one off ebay this time. Just gotta decide which and keep selling on ebay, lol!! Off to bed now, nite nite xxBaby Toby born 17th Nov 09 :j0 -

can i ask for some advice re references on a CV???
as i have only worked for this firm since moving to the uk, i am wondering who to have as references, and i guess what is the going 'norm' for amount of references.
i am thinking of asking our previous practice manager if he would mind being a reference (cant see that he would have a problem), but i am then stuck for any other professional referees
positive vibes for your gran in law kindof0 -

AF, do you have any people in your social circle you can ask? I used to put down someone I used to work with who was also a friend...A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... If the job doesn't specify that it requires references in the application, don't put any. A CV doesn't need to have references on it. You can add a note along the lines of "excellent references available on request" or something if you feel it's appropriate.
If the application process requires references that's fine (but not on the CV), in which case if they require multiple work referees then yeah, identify two people in different parts of the same business (or different time-periods as you suggest). Otherwise one work ref and one personal can be pretty acceptable too. It'll be obvious from your CV that there's just the one company in your work history I suppose, so it shouldn't be too surprising to them if you can't produce multiple companies as references!0 -

MFD / Sami - Right been through the websites and I think I've found for size 5 Pampers AF Boots deal of 2 Jumbo packs for £18 works out at 15p a nappy or Asda have the same deal but you dont get the points. -
Thank you very much. I always like an opportunity to go to bootsnot sure how MSE it is though!
AF - I would expect to see current employer and either an earlier employer or a character reference for the second. I don't see a problem with you putting an Aussie reference down. I have written references for ex-employees in Australia and New Zealand.
If someone were put down as a character reference only (no knowledge of your working history) then I would expect it to be noted as so to enable me to ask different questions when I request a reference (for example, I wouldn't ask a character reference about your punctuality or sickness record).
...acutally unsure if I am allowed to ask about sickness record any more - bl00dy political correctness
Edit - good point Bruno. My CV doesn't have references on it. And if I were to provide them to a prospective employer I would ask them not to contact them without informing me first (ie - upon job offer). If your employer doesn't know that you are looking elsewhere you don't want them finding out when someone calls them for a reference.please listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120
