... Do you think a formal iced cake is essential, and if so, does anyone have any recommendations for good shop bought ones, as I've cut it a bit fine to make one myself!

I'm consoling myself with MFD's quote, as I don't think I've even done the 5% preparation for this yet, so am hoping the wing it and hope policy will be good enough!
We had a large wedding cake from M&S it was a bit pricey at £38 but went down very well! Tesco do one almost the same in look for only £14 if you're not fussed about the 'not just any cake'ness ;)
I used the cheapy writing icing to put the name on. Great tip my friend gave me was print off the text you want and punch through it with a coc'ktail stick then just join the dots with icing - easy!

hmm I thought that sounded a lot at the time, just checked and in asda, on the 2 boxes for £18 deal you get 150 nappies for £18 that's only 12p per nappy:money:

I remember saying someone telling me that anything under 12p a nappy was good.

I got the ASDA ones as the Size 4's worked out about 11p a nappy.

Just making lunch now - I would call it tea but OH says he wants tea again later!

    Sami - loving the cake.

Tara - OH is under instructions not to eat the cupcakes until I've taken photos for you!

    Hi folks,

We're working on a new look for the forum - and the first ALPHA draft is done - we'd like your feedback (please read the notes below first though)

    Change to the new look

Change back to the old look (if you want to feel free to stick with the new one - providing you're aware its not 100% finished)

You can switch the looks as often as you like, its no problem

Note the switch is done via a cookie - so if you clear cookies you'll revert to the old look automatically

Thanks Sami. I might be able to get to M and S tomorrow so I'll have a look to see if they have one in. Tescos is harder to get to, and my online shop was from Ocado and bizarrely they don't have any white iced cakes to order. Yours looked fab. I'm severely artistically challenged, so even using your tip I'm positive I won't be able to make mine look half so good, but I'll give it a go!
