Just had a paddy from Rhys... because I wouldn't give him any more mandarin segments! He'd never even had them before 15minutes ago, suddenly the lack of them is now scream-worthy!
LOL - it gets [STRIKE]worse[/STRIKE] better - soon a lack of anything and everything will be worthy of throwing yourself on the floor for :cool:workinmummy wrote: »Oh good one for Beenie.
Have just taken the the 10th may date off my calender and todays saying is
"the first sign of maturity is the discovery that the volume knob also turns to the left"
Obviously neither set of your neighbours have reached maturity yet. :rotfl:
I have that calendar too - I had a smile to myself when I read it this morning
My favourite one ever was 'Success is 5% thorough preparation, 95% last minute changes' which came on the day of a massive conference I was organising (which always gets chopped and changed at the last minute LOL)please listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -
Big internet shop done for food for the christening, so I feel less unprepared now. Still have to cook it all though. I'm going to do a buffet style thing, and the plan is to offer Morrocan Chicken with couscous (which will go in the slow cooker first thing Sunday morning, and couscous done when ready to eat), irish stew which I'll make on Saturday and leave on low in the oven while we are at church, chilli (ditto) with rice to be cooked when we get back, and a tomato pasta bake for veg option which I'll make on Saturday and stick in the oven when we get back from church. Will also have salad and bread. For puds I'm copping out and buying in a selection of nice cheesecakes, tarts, etc.
We don't have enough seating round the table for 24, so the aim was to cook stuff which could easily be eaten with a fork, either standing up or perched in easy chairs if you're lucky! Do you think a formal iced cake is essential, and if so, does anyone have any recommendations for good shop bought ones, as I've cut it a bit fine to make one myself!
I'm consoling myself with MFD's quote, as I don't think I've even done the 5% preparation for this yet, so am hoping the wing it and hope policy will be good enough!0 -
jaydens broke his first (of what im guessing many) glass .. and of course the little bu99er wanted to play with the razor sharp pieces of glass and got upset when i sent him upstairs with daddy to get ready for bed while i cleaned it up .. kids for you eh? x

That all sounds like an excellent plan Nicki. I'm not sure if a formal cake is essential, but the older guests might expect it? M&S cake is nice, I think, otherwise Tesco do plain white iced cakes and you can take Sami's trick of printing out the words you want on the cake, laying the paper over the top and poking strategic holes through to give you an outline to follow
Husband has just surfaced out of bed looking like death on a stick, so I shall now consider what dinner's going to look like and get him to entertain the fed and chatty monster. Her face is covered in food and she's leaning as far out of the high chair as she can with an adorable nosey face on. She's just figured out that she can put her weight on the footrest to lift herself a bit - scary baby :rotfl:Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76
