GISI, the best ideas kicking about here seem to be, bedtime routine, cuddle and story or song, put him in his cot, continue story or song, keep settling him, and sing your way out (next to the cot, end of the cot, at the door, outside the door, making your way slowly away, anytime he cries sing so he knows you are there).

When he does cry, quick cuddle or patting him, tuck him in, sing your way out, repeat as often as it takes.

I forgot to let you all know our news, guess who was in big boy pants yesterday with no accidents? Yep, Christopher! He is very proud and so are we. He even came in from outside for a pee! (I ran out of pull ups! found some for night time but we will try big boy pants by day)

Thanks for the thoughts! I'm not sure I have the heart for letting him cry it out, so I might try the gradual withdrawal. I think patting, singing and the seahorse may be the way to go.

Interestingly (in a mummy kind of way) his daytime naps are 30-40 minutes, so I wonder if the 30 minute waking is to do with his sleep cycle length. I've tried to lengthen his daytime naps, but to no avail. He does still have a morning and afternoon nap, but he's never been one for a huge amount of daytime sleep.

Tss- I don't think it's colic or anything because he's actually quite happy when he's awake, just doesn't want to miss anything and go to sleep!

I would leave the wedding denby up high until Kezzie leaves home if I were you...

Sorry to hear about DH SS... I'm assuming he doesn't want to put himself at the mercy of the German care system if he can help it?

The only problem we've had with the washables is when Hubby isn't proficient enough at removing solids... But the upshot of that is he has become very proficient at removing them from the washing machine door, which in turn made him take a bit more care at the nappy stage...

The main threat to china here is the husband, I drank from my chipped mug this morning and put my toast on a plate with a chunk missing. Replacing them all is on my list.

Husband is currently wondering which hospital to test next, since the one I work at, while convenient, is not so good to him.

Molly did great with the reusables until she started having solids, and for some reason once that happened she started having a weirdly smelling foof - but whenever we went away and used disposables it was fine, so we switched for good and we're saving the reusables for Next Kid.

    Morning everyone - i've caught up. :D

My baby boy has gone off with his suitcase this morning on his school holiday. He won't be back til Friday. :(

OH is 30 today but isn't having a good morning. His central locking has gone funny and won't let the boot close properly ?!?, so he's taken my car instead.

We're going out for Indian tonight, he thinks it's just me, him and our girls - but another 20 odd friends and family are going to be there to greet us. He'll either love me or kill me. :p

Josh said he needs new swimming trunks, and then followed up proudly with "me c0ck and balls have grown a lot since last year" - woah, too much information there :o:rotfl:

:eek::rotfl::rotfl: Aren't boys just vile! That made me snort me cuppa! :rotfl:

Tsstss :j for your cat coming home. It'd be interesting to fit a tracking device to them to see where they disappear too!

Gisi I think at 6 months we were at the stage of putting her down in the cot, then staying in the room but ignoring her. I'd just lie on the bed with my back to her and read/catch up on here for half an hour til she went to sleep. She's strange now, she normally goes down and lets us leave the room, but sometimes one of us still has to stay up with her for a while.

Does anyone know how you find out who owns a house? Mums next door neighbours are renting from a private landlord, and they're the chav scum from hell! Mum has lost track of who owns the house and she wants to complain to someone.
The police were out again yesterday after my Dad had his wing mirror (again) and number plate kicked off overnight, along with three other cars in the road. One of the neighbours saw the boys from next door running into the house after hearing noise outside.
They sent the fingerprint people out and got some good prints from around the number plate bit. Hopefully they'll match the ones they'll already have on record for one of the t**ts next door.

Fergie is doing well on the new laxative and had 3 dirty nappies on saturday. Kester had 5 poos too. I changed 12 dirty nappies in a 24 hr window. And then I realised why other mums thought it was impressive when we used to do reusables. With Fergie's infrequency, I was just not really feeling their pain!

Heheheh, I have a sneaking suspicion that when Finn resumes normal poo schedule (still on once every 4-5-6 days here) I won't be such a proponent of washables :o. I also don't understand people who swear that BF poo doesn't stain...I wet pail, use bio detergent AND wash on 40 and STILL get stains. What gives? Also every time I've ever used a paper liner, the poo soaks right through and gets on the nappy? (I'm happy using fleece liners though) Once Finn gets his night sleep sorted (haha), we need to get the balls to use washables at night and do away with disposies once and for all. :o:p

SS, sorry to hear hubby is poorly again. Oh and looks like we wouldn't be able to make that Saturday in late May as DH only gets 1 Sat off a month and he needs a different one for something else. Sowwwwwy :( Could still do a Sunday, but I think you had something else planned?

GISI, I think "they" say sometimes short daytime naps are completely normal and sometimes they can actually be the result of baby being overtired so try putting him down sooner? No idea, really. We struggled with the same for a while but something somewhere clicked and now he does 1.5-2hrs pretty well :o.

tia, yay for big boy pants!! :j

    3 - I think Land Registry?? I'll ask DH, he's an estate agent ;).

Lol so does anyone actually like the Quinny?? I don't even like 3 wheeler pushchairs generally, so if i was gonna have one it'd be the Quinny cos it's weird-looking enough to be different.

Seriously though, i was wondering if you can fold it down with the wheels and seat unit attached? If not then i'll deffo stop lusting :p

Aless are you still changing Finn's nappy during the night? Or is it just disposies for ease on a tired morning?

Ooops, I forgot. Glam I'm glad to see you're home. I hope you're taking it easy - make the most of it. ;)

Thanks Tsstss... We think she might have just rehomed herself, she had a very funny temperament... She wouldn't come in the house half the time... I'm sure she's happy wherever she is anyway, cats are very good at looking after themselves...

Krystal Did your cat disappear when Caitlyn arrived? We used to have a cat, and when I brought J home from hospital it came in and had a look/sniff at the baby, then scarpered, never to return. We did see it about occasionally looking very well fed - we think it moved in with the old cat lady up the road.

:j:j For Christoper and his big boy pants. :j:j

    Thanks Aless.

3, you put the details in here but it's a £4 charge for the land registry details...

Yay for big boy pants and fish gutting grandads... And I hope there's a better German hospital for Mr SS!

And it's my experience that every child is different and for the most part changeable... Eg: Aimee never slept more than 20mins in the day, dropped naps by 18months and wouldn't sleep longer than 90-120mins in a stretch at night until she was past 3... By 4 was sleeping straight through but even now she gets sent to bed at 7/7:30 and can be heard wandering around until well after 9, is usually up by 6:30...

Caitlyn: Always had epic naps >4hours twice a day as a tiny baby and slept brilliantly at night... At about 6-9 months went through a phase of 3x20min naps during the day and waking 4/5 times a night, then settled back into longer naps and better nights, waking only once or twice... Now she's nearly 1 <sob> she generally goes down between 7:30 and 9 and mostly sleeps until 5:30, feeds and goes back off until 7:30 with the odd night waking before 5:30 (no feed, drink of water, back patting to settle) and sometimes has a feed but wants to get up at 5:30 (usually when it's DH's lie in day...)

I think you find what works best for you and tweak it around your circumstances...
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...

I'm pretty sure, if it's rear facing, you have to remove the seat to fold... When I was looking, the Oyster was the only one that could be folded with the seat unit parent facing...

Erm, it was a few months after... She went really funny with Mr Tabson when he came back from the RSPCA, and they'd previously got on brilliantly... and then she stopped coming in at night... Like a gradual withdrawl lol...

I actually have a bad track record with cats... The ginger tom I moved here with can often be seen looking very dirty and ragtag... He went ferral on me! And I've had 3 others just leave home and not come back... and 1 got run over right outside my house... I have 2 now, 1 is completely antisocial and semi agoraphobic and I think that's whats kept her here 5 years and Mr Tabson is microchipped so he should (in theory) always come back lol...
