To play devil's advocate I can see why some people wouldn't want children at their wedding. Firstly some people just aren't into children and as SM says see them as a mess creating nuisance, hence not wanting them there. Secondly I can understand that some venues are not very well suited to children crashing and running about, although I don't really think this is a problem in the case of babes in arms. Thirdly I think in some cases numbers are very restricted and some people see saying no children as a way to cut back on numbers and ensure they can invite all the grown-ups they want to. I'm not saying I agree with any of these reasons, but I can understand why a childless couple might decide to say no children. What I really, really hate is when couples invite some children (say those of close family) and not others.

I dont understand the "no kids" thing at weddings either. I dont see why someone would want to have their wedding in a venue that doesnt have kids either. A friend of mine got married on Thursday this week and specified no kids after 8pm as the venue wasnt licensed - the evening do started at 7! Needless to say we made our apologies.

I would also be interested in this...I 'think' most of the people I have known get married and not allow children, have been couples who don't already have children of their own?

My old manager spent 2yrs planning and nearly 50 000 on her wedding!!!! No she didn't have children, and no, children weren't allowed.

EDIT - Although i would never really slate anyone for their wedding choices as, at the end of the day, it is their wedding:) Peole should always do what they want to ensure they enjoy their special day.

He can't remember exactly, but he thinks it's because she said it would be a better party without children and the adults would have a better time, yeah right! :mad:

Well, I on the other hand have thought about the fact that the church service will be at least 45mins long so have made party bags for the kids to be given out at the start with word searches, pencils and puzzles in. And books for the little ones. And I may have popped some chocolate in by accident too!

Tara, I disagree with the Ice Lollies and a sore throat... I always found hot drinks and soup are a lot easier on swollen tonsils than cold things...

Mfd, if he's not feeling like eating I would just go with it, keep his fluids up and dose with calpol/calprofen as required... They always bounce back quick enough...

We had loooooooooads of kids at our wedding, all my friends have children... It's probably one of the biggest reasons we're friends lol...

I did party bags for the kids at my wedding too Tara - even for the dot who was 11 days old

I guess I will never understand. Whilst I can hear what you are saying GISI my whole being screams 'NOOO' at the whole idea. How can you like the parents but not the kids??? I am at a complete loss

We had party bags too... And loads of crayons and paper and kids magazines for the evening children, but what they liked most was those giant balloons that you blow up with a plastic tube and then let go and they fly around the room making squeaky noises... £1 for 30 from poundland

I don't think it has anything to do with not liking the kids...maybe some people just think adult only do's are more 'fun':o Don't know? Just guessing really.

FWIW - I didn't have children at my wedding:p Well I had ds1 in a buggy asleep and ds2 was in my belly as a 7mth bump....but we got married in Cyprus so was just us. (and my 2 brothers who were only there because they cam on holiday with us:rotfl:
