Here I am back, again, worrying about what will happen when the DWP eventually think I am fit for work. (going by the throngs of clearly ill people failing ESA medicals) Just seen GP today who still thinks I am not fit for work, had review with DWP last year.

As an incap benefit claimant, I understand that I would be put on contributions based JSA, and that I will actually not receive a penny, as I am on £400.00 ill health pension.

Is it true that you can only be on contributions based JSA for six months, and then they put you on income based JSA?

If so, if I am still on JSA after 6 months, and am put onto income based JSA, will I still receive Zero money JSA due to my pension?

Please advise

thank you

Please try not to worry about the medical, if you are not fit for work then you almost certainly will be found not fit for work.

My husband had an IB medical last year and was worried about it, but he has been found unfit for work.

Don't listen to all the scaremongering stories on here, most people are treated fairly .

But IF you are put on Contributions-based JSA then yes, you only get it for six months.

Income-based JSA is means-tested and any other income affects it.

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton

I started a thread here, after reading some into on JSA from turn2us.org. I did some maths and it turned out, if I am right, that I would not receive nil JSA.

    thankyou
  • I think it means you would receive £15 JSA but I am not absolutely sure, please don't base any decisions on what I have said. It might be best if you contracted a Benefits Advisor at the CAB, they will be able to work it out for you based on your own circumstances..

I repeat again, try not to worry (I know how difficult this is), it may not ever happen, just concentrate on getting well.
