Where can I store my stuff?

My husband and I are thinking of going travelling round Europe for 6 months at least and renting our flat out. We would need to store all the stuff that we have (its a 2 bedroomed flat) Ive looked on the net and its sooooo expensive to pay for storage - any ideas of making it cheaper?

Try a removal company who offer storage, they tend to charge a small fraction of the amount a self storage company charge0

or pay a friend to use their spare room?0

By 'stuff' are you including all your furnishings, or just your material possessions?0

There are self-storage places around, where you basically rent a shipping container on a secure site, They can be as little as £25 a week.

As little as £25 a week! Thats £100 a month! Thats quite alot I think!
By stuff I mean all our furniture from our 2 bed flat0 -
what do you plan to spend?0

Half of that0

Why don't you leave the furniture in the flat? Just the basics and let it as funished.0

Anyway - I used this lot (http://www.kellystore.co.uk/) but for a two bed flat you would be looking at more than you want.
So, I think your options are:
Leave the furniture in the flat, and store other things with a friend
Leave the furniture in the flat, and store a small amount of other things at a storage place
Build something in the garden to store things (if you have space) or Kellystore also will deliver you a box to store things outside at home. No idea how that works long term though.
Sell the furniture!
In my experience, very little of what is stored is ever really worth storing! I have done it a few times, and when I get it back, I always wonder why I bothered.
p.s. I have nothing to do with Kellystore. Just a customer at one stage.0 -
Do you have a loft? A good clearing out of loft space might free up enough room to store quite a lot of stuff.
It would in ours anyway, it's absoutley full of junk!0
