Halfords POOR Customer Service

 Dear All,
I purchased some car windscreen screen wash from Halfords recently. The item was placed in the boot of my car standing up but ended up lying down inside its carrier bag. Despite it being sealed it leaked all over the boot space and ruined the boot floor (Made of hardboard covered in carpet fabric). On complaining to Halfords they requested the item, receipt and 2 quotes to fix the damage. The cost was about £40 to replace. Received letter today saying we advise customers to carefully store and carry all items once they have left the store!! So poke off basically. There was not any warning on the carton to state store upright only and surely these things should be designed to go in the back of cars, especially when new. I consider this to be extremely poor customer service. Not impressed. Wont be using Halfords again for anything.

So just to be sure I'm reading this right...
You purchased a bottle of liquid, and placed it in the boot to bounce around as you drove.
It (inevitably) leaked, and now you think it's halfords fault for not making you aware that bottles of liquid which are allowed to bounce around in your boot during transit might leak?

There is no warning on a microwave not to put a dog in it to dry it after a bath but common sense would dictate you would be stupid to even attempt that.Approach her; adore her. Behold her; worship her. Caress her; indulge her. Kiss her; pleasure her. Kneel to her; lavish her. Assert to her; let her guide you. Obey her as you know how; Surrender is so wonderful! It is in the instructions now after some woman did just that. Same reason peanuts have to have labels saying may contain nuts.

I'm not sure what's worse - the fact that you didn't store/secure the container properly or the fact that you paid Halfords prices when Asda are selling a 2.5 litre screenwash concentrate for £1.The man without a signature.0 -
I went to the drive-thru with the mrs the other day, ordered 2 coffees and just chucked them on the back seat (it didnt say anything about keeping upright) it went everywhere! Can I claim compo?Went shoplifting at the Disneystore today.

Err, I'm mighty confused here. Going off the last comment about a cup of coffee, that of course would go everywhere because it has a detachable lid with holes in.
But a bottle of screenwash is a sealed container and shouldn't leak unless handled rather carelessly. I would expect a sealed container to cope with a car journey. I'm wondering how the other posters in this thread transport things like milk and bottled drinks from the supermarket?0 -

Ok so I might of been a bit too sarcastic, but you cant blame every mishap in life on someone else.I transport things like milk etc firmly wedged by other shopping when I go to the supermarket and if there was a spillage I just wouldnt dream of going back and demanding compensation, these things sometimes happen, this is why we get stupid warnings on products like "caution hot" on cups of coffee etc because everyone wants compensation for everything nowadays.Went shoplifting at the Disneystore today.

Did you check the lids were 100% secure before driving off?0
