What's a mealplan? :o Err... it's all gone a bit pear-shaped this week and what I've eaten bore very little resemblance to the plan I posted last week. :o:o I promise to do better this week.

    I've got:

Friday - meatball and aubergine tagine, HM bread
Saturday - chilli con carne (heavily bulked out with veggies as I'm on a diet :(), with brown rice
Sunday - rabbit chasseur (from the freezer), baked potato and salad
Monday - quiche (ready-made, from the freezer), salad and HM chilli beans (also from the freezer)
Tuesday - vegetable rogan josh and garlic naan or brown rice (depending how virtuous I've been for the rest of the day ;))
Wednesday - veggie sausages with Mexican bean bake (tinned beans in spicy tomato sauce, topped with breadcrumbs and baked)
Thursday - lemon and herb-marinated pork chop with oven chips and veg of some sort

Puddings will be stewed pears as I'm still trying to get through my giant stock-pile of the things. (It's no wonder last week's mealplan went pear-shaped - everything's starting to look pear-shaped at the moment!)

Oh, and thanks for starting us off, freakyogre. :T
Back after a very long break!

    Hi everyone :)

Last week was a bit of a wash out in the end with meal planning (we got a takeaway thursday night as OH didn't fancy my lovely cauliflower curry idea :o ) and he's out tonight so I am having ribs n beans from the freezer (economy gastronomy recipe) and we are going out for dinner tomorrow night (no occasion, just fancied it-trying a new restaurant-does that count as a new recipe :o;))

Rachbc-yum slow roasted lamb with boulangere potatoes-was wondering if you have ever tried HFW Bakers oven shoulder of lamb-basically the same thing but you slow roast the lamb on the potatoes so they take up all the deliciousy yumminess-its in River cottage meat, there is an adaption here but if you want more detailed recipe just ask-its one of my favourites and know it off by heart LOL

SO-The plan for this week if we stick to it is:

Sunday-Roast chicken, spuds carrots parsnips and purple sprouting brocolli
Mo-[STRIKE]Chicken and mushroom risotto[/STRIKE] nope changed my mind already lol spicy chicken noodle soup with spring greens
Tu-[STRIKE]sausage and root veg casserole, baked spuds, spring greens[/STRIKE] Pork chops, mustard sauce, saute spuds, and veg
We-Linguini with peas and wild garlic pesto, salad
Th-Steak, potato and brie dauphinoise, asparagus (coming in veg box :j:j)
Fr-Smoked haddock chowder (with spring greens instead of spinach)
    Sa-su-away for the weekend.

Everything on there I should have-or am getting in the veg box on wednesday. We got our meat box delivered today so the steak and chicken comes from The well hung meat company (the rest is in the freezer lol) SO.... hopefully, all I need to buy this week is milk..... Hmm will believe it when I see it :rotfl:

OK-from the top of my head!
Preheat oven to as high as will go. Rub joint with olive oil, a bit of salt and pepper. Put in oven for 30minutes.
Meanwhile peel and thickly slice 1kg potatoes-you want them about 4-5mm thick (I have to admit-I usually do more-but my OH LOVES spuds-the recipe is supposed to serve 6-10 with a HUGE shoulder of mutton (3-4kg:eek:) but I can never get that so use a lamb shoulder, about 1.5-2kg, and it would serve at least 4-6, but usually just us so LOTS of leftovers) 1kg onions-peeled and thinly sliced, and 4-6 garlic cloves chopped into largish pieces
Once the 30 mins is up, take lamb out of oven, drop temp to 140 (leave door open so loses temp quickly)
Add large glass white wine to roasting dish to deglaze (if lots of fat in tray-pour some off at this point if you want), then put potatoes, onions and garlic around the meat, add some salt and pepper.
Then pour in water (around 500mls-but just make sure it doesnt go above the spud layer=you want the top layer to be just above the water)
Then cover with foil and leave for around 3-4 hours (I usually find it is a good idea to leave the house as it is unbearable having the fab smell for SOOO long!)
then take it out, remove lamb to rest, give the spuds a good mix around in all the yummy juices and crank oven back up to 220 to crisp up the spuds and then serve, with some veg on the side (I like greens with it, but I like greens with everything :rotfl:)

You do NOT need to carve it-just scoop it off with a spoon. yum yum. and only 1 pan to wash :rotfl::rotfl: (bar what you cooked the veg in I suppose)

We hven't had this for AGES and I have SOO much meat in the freezer I dont think I will be allowed for a while!

Hi everyone & thanks for starting us off Freaky Ogre :T

I got the job at the company where I've done my work placement :j I start 'officially' on Monday so I have just spent an hour or so planning menus for the whole of May. There are a couple of new things each week as I'm soooo bored of doing the same things :o The younger generation are going to have to eat what I've made or help themselves to beans on toast :p :rotfl: Anyhow we are having:

Monday - Omlettes & Salad followed by Fruit Sorbet (I made it a few wks ago and think it's mango & peach)

Tuesday - Tomato & Bacon Pasta Bake with hidden veggies ;)

Wednesday - Take Away - I'm fancying Chinese

    Thursday - Meatballs & Spaghetti

Friday - Baked Potatoes with Tuna or Cheese, HM Coleslaw and Salad

Saturday - Chicken with Moroccan Spices and Roasted Veg with HM Wedges <

New Recipe for the week :)

Sunday - Potato & Gammon Bake, Spring Cabbage, Carrots, Yorkshire Puddings & Gravy

I won't be baking as I have bought what is needed already. I figured that it's better to have a home cooked evening meal, now that I'm working full time, instead of trying to bake and do it all :(

Have a good week cooking all :A
