In answer to the comment the point of contact is the installer.
He does not seem to know any more on the actual functions of this system than myself.
Yes all the timer is set and works fine no problems heating and hot water ( Does what it says on the Tin )
What is funny I phoned Vaillant direct before i ordered any of the actual components and ran through all the items i was going to order and use and asked if my specification was correct. I also asked if they would recommend i needed anything different or extra.
They said the 140 timer and VR65 and 438 + vertical Flue where a good match and work work fine together to run an open vented system with std "y" plan valve.
So i did take advise on my actual items purchased from vaillant themselves before i ordered the items.
To be honest i did not want to keep the old timer set up it was dated and fairly basic. I thought the £70 dedicated vaillant specific timer and the VR65 Box of tricks should more than out perform my old basic timer from early 90s
But I may be wrong.
I will sort it out that i am sure i will keep going until it works how i would like, if this means buying a new timer, I will buy one but i want to know i will get the functionality i want before i shell out another £100+
I will look into the VR360 thanks for the pointer.
Regards

Its ok no problem about being outspoken.
I am not moaning on here just trying to improve my system and learn on the way.
Everything I have learned will make a great post for my Blog.
Hopefully it will help other people also.
What is funny is my friend at work also said to me today he used to have the 1 hour button on his old system and now his new one is lacking this facility, so i think a number of people have been subject to this specific issue.
I did Research probably to much. Vaillant have a good product in price with stainless heat exchanger i was more than happy with the product.
To be honest The bits that I am struggling with i did not expect to be a problem i expected the new control systems to do far more than the 8 year old DANFOSS FP15 timer.
Life is about experiences and learning, i am always learning and my system is working better every week and my understanding of the system is always improving.
Best Regards
Richard
