Rant about Argos

I purchased a Sony Cybershot W350 Digital Camera from Argos. It states on the website 8x Digital Zoom (which is why I purchased this camera over another one).

After using the camera, I've realized it does not have digital zoom at all, only 4x optical zoom.

Went back to store, explained and they basically said 'on your bike'.

Just sent a snotty email to Argos customer service, and ordered a different camera from Amazon.

Cheeky so and so's.

I don't have anything constructive to add, but I can second Argos' unreliability.

The Sonic & Knuckles Collection does NOT come with Sonic 2.
The GBA Action Replay you stocked didn't match the picture nor the description.

I think the probability I end up buying something after reserving it at Argos is currently 20% at the moment.

I wonder if I can do a chargeback on my credit card for item not as described...

Um, if it is definitely a credit card and it's over £100 then of course you can! If it's a VISA debit card (or credit and under £100) then your chances are good also.

Are you seriously telling us that Argos refused a refund based on them lying about the product? I know their CS's reputation isn't that good but this...

Sony say it is 8 x digital zoom, I assume Argos use the supplied specs (still does not allow them to wriggle out of replacement/refund but it is Sony that are at fault if it really doesn't have the digital zoom)

(given a choice go for quality optical zoom rather than digital)

    I feel like an idiot.

I just phoned Sony after seeing that on their website. They told me the digital zoom is turned off by default (you must turn it on in the settings).

I might just go and get some ice for my red face. :D

I wonder how many other disgruntled customers Argos have had over this? Cant believe that someone didnt explain to you how you turn the digital zoom on???? or can it be that there are hundreds if not thousands of people out fondly thinking they have the digital zoom - when they havent turned it on!!!
not your fault The Effect - you would expect it to be on default wouldnt you???

I might just get that manual out and see what other features I've skipped. :D

When they send me a response (let's hope it's not one sincerely apologizing), I'll reply advising them of my stupidity, however much it hurts my ego. :rotfl:

Well in fairness, I'm more of an idiot as I guess that's why they include a manual. I can't really expect Argos staff to know the ins and outs of every item they sell. :rotfl:
