well, before going to the papers, I suggest you threaten to go to the local rag and/or some sort of nutty newspaper like the Daily Mail or Daily Express... see if they call your bluff on it.0

I don't think any bank would take that threat seriously because the amount of people who say they will do it but don't. I would go down to the branch first and if you really don't get anywhere, they yes contact the papers and/or tv.0 -
Have you spoke to Barclays about this? Presumbably that account with Barclays is being flagged for a reason, a reason they may know the answer to0

You walked in and proved your identity and they reject you taking out your money... what right do they have, they just hold your money (and make interest on it). Who are they to say you can and cannot take it out!0

My sister in law had dealings with Santander when a substatantial amount of money became 'lost' during a transfer.
In spite of repeated phone calls, visits to branch etc, this went on for around 3/4 months. It was only when she contacted the columnist at the Telegraph - not sure of her name - that the money mysteriously appeared back in her account.0 -
Sometimes public humiliation (which hurts business) is the only thing that gets them doing their jobs.
This is entirely true, I had a big problem with Fitness First and as soon as I put a message up on their Facebook page complaining about it they phoned and gave me the money back!
I wish you luck.0 -
I have had some problems with Santander losing cash that I had paid in and had a receipt for!
I would suggest contacting
Tony Hetherington of the 'Mail on Sunday'. He has had many letters regarding Santander's incomptence in the paper recently and is always interested in more. He has the weight of the paper behind him and is able to resolve many of the problems.
His address is Tony Hetherington at Financial Mail, 2 Derry Street, Kensington, London W8 5TS. He may have an e-mail address but I'm at work and can't access sites where it might be posted.
Good luck and make sure you have another bank account to pay in your workl payment due on 15th (I assume you can pay it into Barclays and it will be safe there).¿Alguien ha visto a mi nave espacial?
Biting is excellent. It's like kissing, only there's a winner.0 -
You could also try emailing Antonio.Osorio@santander.co.uk (Chief Exec I believe).
I had to do this and they replied pretty quickly."Kindness is the golden chain by which society is bound together." -Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe

These ****s have now unblocked my account. Finally. It only took 15 letters, a letter from the Financial Ombudsman, a call from a national newspaper and about 50 phone calls from me to get it unblocked:eek:I've always quite fancied Tony Blair and I still do.0
