Hehe I was just researching snail eating. I didn't think that I would find myself googling back onto mse
I used to love growing fresh veggies but since moving to my current house, over a decade ago, I have been able to grow b**ger all because the damned huge snail population keeps eating everything before it can get a chance to grow.
Decided to wage all out warfare on them and that if I can't beat them, I will eat them. Once the weather picks up abit and I can bare hunting for them in the dusk or dawn dew, I'm going into battle and their little shells will not save them.
I read somewhere that you can freeze them which is great because this won't be much of a money saving exercise as I am the only person in the house who will dare eat them. and I'm not even sure I will be able to do the deed when I see their little beady eyes looking up at me on their cute little stalks >.<
I will try to be strong**********************************************************************

I was watching an old H F-W Cook on the Wild Side on TV a couple of months ago and Hugh was cooking garden snails to eat.
As we have loads of them I'm really tempted to try it, but I can't remember exactly what he did. I think you have to starve them for a while first to ensure their intestines are empty but this seems a bit cruel to me, and I think he put them in the freezer for a while to send them into a sort of dormancy before boiling them.
Even though it all sound quite horrible in black and white I'd still like to give it a go (sorry to allthe veges reading this!) so if anyone has the book or the video or has done it themselves and can advise from experience I'd love to hear from them.Oh dear, here we go again.0 -

Hi Jenny,
I've added your posts into the other thread as it helps to keep all the replies together.
