How many LCD Televisions is it possible to operate off one external TV aerial

It depends on the strength of the signal at your location.
If it's weak, you can boost it with a powered device but a more satisfactory solution is to use a high-gain aerial.
If you want to use a lot of televisions, you need a distribution amplifier.
The type of screen makes no difference: what does is the tuner inside the television.
