It is so easy to copy tracks, whole albums from Spotify in a reasonable 192kb format....is this illegal downloading?0

sugarcoma101,
Is it illegal to copy CDs which I have purchased?0 -

No, but I happen to think those that are too tight fisted to pay for something that they would rather steal and break the law are scummy, and I for one am looking forward to the day when internet connections are slowed and cut off for those who do this.
Why do you assume I work for a record label?
In truth, I am a musician who is tired of the argument that my music should be free to the masses, regardless of the amount of money and time and work it costs me to record it.0 -
sugarcoma101,
Why did the music industry shut down the Russian music pay-site, allofmp3 DOT com?

Look I'm just expressing a truthful opinion here. I'm going to leave answering these questions to the BPI which is the point of this thread anyways.
But just bear in mind that record labels are not the enemy here and breaking the law is breaking the law, full stop.0 -

Ah right, you're a musician. In that case you'll be making some good money playing live then?

That's a pathetic point. Breaking one type of law over another does not make you any less guilty. It's ILLEGAL no matter what type of law you break!!
The founders of the Pirate Bay are now in jail, it's a moot point over what type of law they broke, the fact is THEY BROKE IT!!!!!0 -

Well you've just proven how pleasant you really are. Thanks for calling me scummy and implying twice that I was thinking about stealing. As it happens, I can't afford to re-purchase my CDs which have been stolen. To you that might be tight-fisted, but for me, as an NHS worker (who no doubt earns a lot less than your typical music industry type), each and every one of those CDs was a real treat and a big purchase for me. I am glad you are able to look down on others with your twisted logic, and think of ways to insult and punish them, but in reality most of us are hard-working reasonable people who are trying to use modern media in a fair and sensible way.0 -

Sorry...hold on...not sure what you're getting at here. If you pay for music, be it by downloading legally or by buying CDs (quote: trying to use modern media in a fair and sensible way) then none of what I said was directed anywhere near you...it was directed to illegal downloaders?
Am I missing something?0
