it was my 21st this year my parents 50'th birthday and my brothers 18th i think i have a plan! just to work it out now! x
We had a joint birthday a few years ago - me & my 2 sons....was a fab night!0 -
I would phone the venue you prefer and explain that you have paid a deposit of £500 to another place and in light of this could they consider extras/reduction to the same value. This way you could explain to your family that you have 'moved' the deposit!!:rotfl:Ahahah got my signature removed for claiming MSE thought it was too boring :rotfl:0

been chatting to my mum about it and she said that if i will regret it go for it but if i can transfer the event to something else then go ahead might as well try and get the money back insome way.0

If your preferred venue is £2000 but you have booked the other for £2400 then even if you go for your preferred venue, you could see it as only losing £100 (although obviously would be £500 better off had you booked there originally). As above I am sure if the date was rebooked, you may get your deposit back or excellent idea suggested already of using it as a venue for a party.
I would say go with your heart, do what you feel is best for you and your OH otherwise, you may regret it (although I do personally love the look of pegwell bay!!!).0 -
i do too but not as much a northdown house it looked so pretty in winter and i just cant get my head around the lack of photos possible for a december wedding
i just keep going back and it is to small in my head and i dont want to be squashed. i guess living in a house with high ceilings and bay windows has made me this way hehe
my other half is a tab angry at me for changing my mind on the venue as i tend to change my mind on a lot of things but my first choice was northdown house but went with pegwell bay because i was worried that i wouldn't be able to get any where else.0 -
I changed my wedding venue! It didnt have any outside space at all. Luckily i hadnt paid the deposit yet, so didnt lose anything.
If you really want the other place then go for it, otherwise you may look back and regret it later.

I'd say go with what feels right, you don't want to spend forever regretting going with pegwell when you could have got what you wanted for effectively £100 more.
I looked into Northdown House briefly but was put off by the minimum of 100 guests needed for the wedding feast. Personally i much prefer the area where pegwell is compared to northdown house, having known the areas all my life.
I love pegwell and think it will make stunning photos although i do realise it will be different for you with a winter wedding. Follow your heart and don't look back with regrets0 -
i rang northdown house today and said that i saw the 100 guest thing and they said that was for things like a party.
they could comfortably seat 60/70 for a sit down meal which works out brillant for me as i have 65 people
i just rung the hotel pretending to be "my sister" and explained the situation and they said they've done it once this year so can do it again! yahee
guess that is one good thing about not knowing a area loonytoons i cant pass judgement on it. lol0
