arghhh dont know what to do

ok i feel in love with a venue when we started looking then found that it was taken,

fast forward 9 months, me being me decide to ring the venue you up just to rule it out as i have been moaning that i want this place over and over again.

well the date they told me wasn't free is free and now i am stuck as it has everything i want but i have paid a £500 deposit.

now if it wasn't for the fact that my parents paid the deposit i would cancel tomorrow but that is a large amount of money just to give to a hotel for nothing

so what do i do?

:(

do you like your new venue as much? if you changed to the venue you first wanted would it be more expensive? if you changed would you be saving money on other things that could compensate your £500? would your parents be upset as they payed deposit?
I know where your coming from though we paid £300 deposit and then changed our minds, we found somewhere closer and more affordable so even though we lost our deposit we are still saving money

I would have a look at the costs of both venues, see if you get anything more with the favourite one, and see if you can find that £500 anywhere within your budget.
  • ok i am going to do a list of good things with both venues

pegwell bay - looks out over the sea, lovely hotel, staff very helpful, lovely decked area with a stunning gazebo. pegwell bay costs £2400

northdown house - long drive upto house, grand stairway, surrounded by woods and a park, large room. Northdown house costs £2000.

my parents would be upset about putting the money down and losing the deposit, as its a lot of money to them that they dont have.

i feel more guilty about that than anything. :(

Can you not give them the £500 back?

Would you regret it forever if you did not use the venue you first fell in love with? or would you be happy with either?
Now a married lady and loving it! Now..to clear that pesky mortgage!

Is it worth asking the first place for your deposit back?
I realise that they are said to be "non-refundable" but you never know, if you're giving the venue enough notice and ask pleasantly they might help?

    Don't know if it'll work?

thanks for the replies , i have £500 saved up already so i could just give that to them i guess and just tell a porky and tell them i got the deposit back.

i think i would regret it as i am all about photos and i loved the bay windows and the way you could leave through the windows and pegwell bay had no were to have photos in December

Lie through your teeth! Go back to the venue you've paid the deposit to and get all upset, say he's left you, your MIL2B is hideous, all of the above etc etc and beg and plead for your £500 back :D
