Even £65 pw is a small amount to live on for anyone especially when youv've paid *in* all your life.

This cannot be the case if there was a period where you were on means tested benefits.

You can still be entitled to means tested benefits when working and paying NI contributions

You seem to have missed the information given in the first post. The OP confirms that she was not working, and therefore was not *paying in*.

At that point I wasn't working for about 4 months, I have however still *paid in* for over 35yrs - started work at 15.Bought up children - had time out up till they were 2 or 3 yrs old.

Its my mess my fault - if I have to get by on £50pw then so be it. I have stuff I can sell if need arises.

  • Lillyme - I can't believe all the nasty comments that you are getting!! It was quite clearly a misunderstanding at the time - very easy for those of us who don't understand how the system works. I hope you can get your repayments reduced until you are back at work.

I thought that the idea of the forums was for help/advice/support, not condemnation. There but for the Grace of God.....

I notice that seven-day-weekend's area is given as West Midlands,
England /Granada Province, Spain - presumably has plenty of money if they also have a home in Spain!!

I filled in a CCCS Debt Remedy online form yesterday and was told that my income of £65.45 (JSA) was not enough to cover my priority bills, even though I had put down £0 for rent and council tax.

    .

What has where someone lives got to do with this thread/debate?
  • I was making the point that they presumaly have never had to survive on benefits if they can afford homes here and abroad.

If I had no money to feed my children or pay for utilities for them, I'd commit fraud too!

Until people are in that position, they have no room to judge the rights and wrongs.

The OP knows what they did was wrong and they are willing to pay it back ~ all they asked was is there a minimum amount people can receive which they have to live off.

Simple question, but yet again, OP's are getting ripped to shreds!

It must be so great to be so perfect.
