Car scrappage. Any good deals on anywhere.

My 19 yr old son has just smashed his car up, still drivable, but not worth repairing.
He is considering getting a new class 1 insurance car.
I know the government scheme has finished but I am sure I have seen dealerships advertising offers.
Any good offers around.
Thanks

Is it a great idea to give a 19 year old, who has already 'smashed up' one car, a brand new car?
I might make him buy a banger until he can be trusted to drive sensibly.;)0 -

Point taken...but despite 'smashing up' his car he is a good, sensible driver, NOT a 'boy racer'.
What he actually did was run in to the car in front in slow moving traffic at about 10mph, the bumper got damaged, the wing bent and the catch from the bonnet pierced the radiator, along with a couple of other small things and the big end may be on it's way out.
I have been quoted £600 to repair a car that would be worth about £800.
The term 'smashed up' was not a good choice. This post was created in an area that may contain nuts!0 -
Do you mean a new car? Hyundai and Kia have offers.0

What does it mean when it says 'registered to you as 2nd keeper for extra saving"?This post was created in an area that may contain nuts!0 -

So his eyesight/judgement of speed and distance are lousy then?I was born too late, into a world that doesn't care

It's been pre-registered, meaning it's worth less as it's not brand new.I was born too late, into a world that doesn't care

Thanks, but I'll ignore your previous post apart from saying that we are all guilty of not paying attention in slow moving traffic. This post was created in an area that may contain nuts!0 -

Really? Might be the case in your family/neck of the woods, but I'm extremely aware whether I'm doing 2 mph or 90 mph (as evidenced by the fact that I've never driven into anyone, nor have they driven into me!)I was born too late, into a world that doesn't care

There's no such thing as a free lunch. A "guaranteed" minimum partex may mean the price was raised in the first place
For example £5000 car on sale for £8000, then offer £2500 trade in for old car means £500 extra gross profit for dealer0
