Cancelling Sky TV on Sky website

I read that it was possible to cancel Sky TV on their website, but when I tried to do this I ended up on a page where you have to send an e-mail to their cancellation team. I done that and the website said there would be a reply within 24 hours, but I have heard nothing from them.
The contract was actually my mum's who had passed away last year, but I left the contact run and changed the direct debit to my own account a coupleof months back. Now I just want it cancelled, but they seem to be deliberately inefficient at this. Can I just cancel all the payments and then wait for them to cut it off? I want to use the box for freesat once Sky is cut off.

Why not call them on this freephone no 0800 0466432 i am sure they will be helpful when you explain the situation. Don't know if they will still insist on the 30 days notice though.0
