Most cats are fine with it, and after a sleepy period are back to normal within 24hrs, and you have a hard time keeping them in the house!

Would echo what another poster said - DEFFO keep them indoor for at least 3-4 days, preferably until the stitches are out (10days)

Depending on the drug regime used, some drugs can stay in the system for up to 3 days, and therefore cause unusual behaviour. I have also seen cats that have been let out a day after their op come back wearing their insides on their outside!

Horror stories I know, and very rare, but it ain't worth the risk - keep her in, keep the cone on (if you don't get offerered one, ask for one), and she will be fine :)
I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

Thanks for all responses. Got her back and she's fine - except completely stoned.
Gave her a pouch of food when we got home (she's usually on dry) and she inhaled that and has been a complete nightmare since!
She is totally hyper and is now IN her water bowl and flicking it about! probably my fault as I have let her sit in the bathroom sink and turned the tap on but the kitchen is now swimming!
At least she isn't worrying the stiches and she is still an indoor cat (wasn't going to let her out 'til she was done!).
Just wish she would sleep! but very glad it all went OK!
  • Aw bless my wee Lily bum was done today too!! She is up wandering on the worktop (!) with her cone on as I type! So definately back to normal quickly. Inhaled a tin of tuna when she came back...vet did give us recovery food but she turned her nose up completely at that :o

Cone was a bit of a battle to start with but she seems to be used to it. She's an indoor girl but just wanted to get her done for behaviour and also as I don't think it's fair for her to come into season with no hope of a man!

She's an overgroomer so the stiches worry me but at least she's happier with the cone now.

    Glad they're both home safe!!
What's fur ye won't go by ye!
