The ADSL filter is a strangely named device. The one gadget on a phone line which does not need a filter is the ADSL device itself. It is everything else plugged into the phone line which needs a filter.SORRY.......just realised the router is plugged into a filter!
The Fax machine wasn't though, it was plugged into a two port adapter in the socket and the filter was plugged into that adapter, not directly into the socket if that makes sense!
Should I purchase a microfilter for the other active phone socket where the digital phone plugs into first and see what happens, and if noise and disconnection continues get back?Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. I have this problem with my Sky Broadband too, the connection drops if I get a call, the line is really fuzzy when making / receiving calls unless I switch my broadband box off, only when it drops out, it totally goes not only the wireless connection and it can take ages to come back on again. (usally have to reboot the box a few times before all my lights come back on)
I only have one phone point in my flat which does have a filter on.
I have spoken to Sky about this and thee went through the changing all the filters thing (even though it was only the one!) and then blamed BT.
So now I either have to put up with it or risk paying £200 for an engineer (they will only charge if it is me fault?? What did I do??)
Any tips?I'm NOT grumpy, I've just been in a bad mood for 20 years!:D0 -

find your master sockket and open it up, plug your filter into the master test socket and plug your phone and router into a filter and directly into that point. If that makes the problem go away something is likely wrong your end with your in house wiring and your responsibility/cost to fix. if the problem's still there it points towards BTs responsibility.
if you can borrow a different phone to test the incomming call/drop under the test socket that will reinforce the result. as well as a bad filter could possibly be caused by a miswired socket insode your flat or something external eg junction box full of rainwater water somewhere0 -
Try a different filter. If it still does it have Sky call out an ADSL engineer (if you can). Line faults can give the same symptoms but filters should always be checked/swapped first.CaroLondon wrote: »I have this problem with my Sky Broadband too, the connection drops if I get a call, the line is really fuzzy when making / receiving calls unless I switch my broadband box off, only when it drops out, it totally goes not only the wireless connection and it can take ages to come back on again.
