me too. Whatever people think TV is an audio medium and I can read a whole book quicker than I can watch a TV series. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Do any of you use the BBC website or listen to the radio? Because a TV licence is not just for the TV. If you have a radio or internet connection in your household you are requried to hold a vaild TV lincence.
Really? An Internet connection now requires a TV licence? Sure about that?If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything0 -

It doesnt unless you watch TV at the time of broadcast. No idea how they measure this, but those are the rules!Mortgage free by 30:eek:: £28,000/£100,000Debt free as of 1 October, 2010

the above is a link to a link to fill in a form to let them know, should you wish. I had such trouble getting my licence in the first place that it didn't seem worth the hassle to tell them we'd moved 3 times so I shouldn't think the link would do much0 -

Indeed. I wonder where "miss lia" gets her information from? Maybe she works in one of those detector vans!If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything0 -
I recently got rid of my TV as I prefer to spend time reading or watching DVDs. I wrote to the licencing people and informed them that I would not be watching any live streamed TV on my computer. They sent a letter and a refund for the unexpired part of my licence.
I assume that they will check periodically that my situation hasn't changed. If I lied on the form and get caught it would form a legal basis for prosecution.
I don't know whether the detector equipment can pick up live TV on the internet - they can tell if your TV is on as opposed to watching a DVD on the set.Sealed Pot challenge 2011 member 1051 - aiming for £365

Do you have a TV?
No.
Then you don't owe them any money.
The law is innocent until proven guilty.
The TV people seem to act as if it is guilty until proven innocent.
Me, I would return the form with a note saying I don't have a TV, and without a stamp on it.0 -
Hi, I would ring them up and ask the following question:
Q. "Do I need a TV Licence even if I don't have a TV?"
A. (likely reply)...erm, no..
Q. "So, why do you keep asking me why do I not have a TV Licence when I don't even have a TV?"
I await their response with baited breadth...:rotfl:DFW'er - Lightbulb moment : 31st July 2009 - £18,499
