car garage hourly rate?

I am curious as to how much a car garage charges labour wise per hour from region to region?
I know that main dealers hourly rate is much higher than independant garages, and london is more expensive than most otrher parts of the country.

And related to monopoly. Our Merc dealer charges £200+VAT per hour. Of course all the independent Mercedes franchises were bought up by MBUK or given to fewer dealers chains. There's no point in going to any other local Merc dealer in the next town because they are all owned by the same franchise or MBUK.

My local independent charges £45+VAT per hour.

My local Inde in Manchester is £40ph and an MX5 specialist in the Midlands is £35ph.

my place charge £38.50+vat, not to bad.

My car has failed MOT and needs to have a bit of welding done around the sills near the suspension. Just a bit of patching.
Can anyone advice a likely cost (i know difficult as you cant see it) and can anyone recommend a garage in cardiff for this kind of work?

MX5 dealer in Glasgow £80 per hour (although members of the owners club get 20% discount.) Independent garage £40 per hour.
