in Credit cards
Hello,
I moved house recently and in the move foolishly lost my Virgin credit card statement. I have also cut the card up and did not make a record of the number as I thought this could be a little too tempting. Anyway, I knew when the bill was due and thought I had remembered the amount. I made the payment in time (28th July) but it was £5 short. They called me on Monday and asked me to make the extra £5 payment and £12 late fee charge. However I have now been told that I am not entitled to the free balance transfer (which was supposed to run until April 2007). This is really worrying now as the payments I make will barely cover the interest and I feel as though I am back to sqaure one once again,
Are Virgin/MBNA allowed to do this?
Any advice will be extremely appreciated.

The card number will be printed on any correspondence they send you (how did they let you know your BT would be invalid - did they write or phone?). Ring them up and beg forgiveness - say that you're setting up a direct debit to pay the minimum each month so it'll never happen again. They may just surprise you.0

This was all disclosed to me in my most recent statement which arrived yesterday. I am going to call them in my lunch hour begging forgiveness and ask to set up a DD after eating a big dose of humble pie!
Wish me luck!0
