Cadbury Direct order not delivered

Hello all, basically i had ordered the Cadbury's treasue box (consists of around 18 chocoltae bars) for a birthday gift for a friend of mine. The order was supposed to be going directy to my friends house. I placed the order on the 14th, and and parcel was sent out 1st class post the same day.

I called up my friend to see if he had received the parcel but nothing. till today (21st April) the parcel has not arrived at his house. I had a payment of £11.60 taken from my account and have not received the order.

I got in contact with Cadbury Direct stating that i had not received my order and they confirmed the delivery was sent via Royal Mail 1st class. They did not take blame for the parcel not reaching the address and told me they will ask Royal Mail to investigate why i have not received the parcel.

If Royal Mail make up nonsense, then does Cadbury have a role in this situation to refund my money or place a new order for me? I have given Cadbury £11.60 and not received my order, surely they need to settle it with Royal Mail if they were to blame. I would like to know if I have a right to demand my money to be refunded or a new order to be placed from Cadbury because I purchased the order from them and not Royal Mail.

Appreciate your help and for taking the time to read through my situation and i hope i made myself understandable.

Many thanks

cadbury wont do anything regards RM,its just a delaying tactic hoping the package shows up
you are entitled to a refund or another package to be sent out, however i would give them a little more time before expecting either

ok thanks for your reply. If they don't get back to me i will give them a call next week. I really do hope they will refund my money/send a new parcel. Thats my friends birthday gift delayed by two weeks. Thank you Cadbury. I knew they shouldnt have sold the company to Kraft.

How do you know Cadbury is at fault?

I don't, but this is my first experience with Cadbury direct and my order was not delivered. Whether its Cadbury to blame I don't know, but so far they have not resolved my issue, but I do hope they do in the near future. I took the risk dealing with the company and the whole point was for my gift to reach in time for my friends birthday. Did it happen, no! So as for reliability I'm not that satisfied. It might be a one off but it spoiled it for my friend.

You haven't said where your friend lives. If they live in northern ireland or channel isles or somewhere remote or offshore, then there has been a delay with mail services due to restrictions on flights. We've been having regular updates at work about delays as some mail is flown and it is being taken by road instead. So it is possible that the choccie could turn up yet.

That's right I understand that. He lives in London and unless they send the chocs from abroad then there should be no reason as to why the delivery should be delayed.

Things do get lost in the Post. If you had bought the chocolate and posted it yourself would you be to blame if they don't get there?

this is a large firm, and as the first reply states, it is within my rights to ask for a full refund if i have not received the order i had placed. It might not of been Cadbury's fault, but they will be responsible for refunding my money back because i purchased the parcel from them. Cadbury could then ask for the loss it has caused them from thier delivery company.

I have not stated anywhere that cadbury is mainly at fault, but rather they spoiled my experience with them.

Now im not here to give negative feedback about Cadbury, they are perfect at making chocolate and they may have a realy good service, but i may be one of them people which failed to gain customer satisfaction. I posted here to see if i have a right to get my money back from Cadbury, because it may not of been their fault because they apparently passed it on to the delivery company. I found out that I am within my rights to do so. Thank you custardy once again.
