Getting married in a brewery? Now that sounds like my cup of tea!!

I would love to get married at the cornish cyder farm. I am addicted (well nearly) to their cyder and it's only sold in very few pubs in cornwall so I won't be having it at the venue :(

    Excellent suggestion Kavanne!

Bubble, do you like the idea of an outdoorsy do? Or was it the simplicity of Kavanne's plan that appealed to you?

just thought i'd add another tree house http://www.solestreethouse.co.uk/tree_house_11.html it in faversham and was my first choice couldn't afford £3000 just to hire the place

That was the best photo they could get to advertise themselves???? Not keen on a tree house as although I don't know how you get up to it if it involves anything remotely unstable my Mum won't be able to get there. Thank you for the suggestion though.

Mainly the simplicity, I don't want anything too fancy, just something my family and friends will enjoy with us. I do want a dress and my sisters are determined to be bridesmaids so there will be some traditional elements, although I think I will go for a coloured dress.

Ooh, what colour dress are you thinking?

It must be very difficult for you seeing weddings all the time in your job to think of something that hasn't already been done a million times over. However without knowing more about you and your OH it's very difficult to suggest suitable ideas, but if it helps, these are the kinds of questions we asked ourselves when we started thinking about this.

    Where is meaningful to us?
This could be a church if you're religious, a town, or part of the world that you love - that you met or had a fantastic holiday for example.

    Where is practical for us?
Where can your mum easily get to? If you've a lot of friends travelling where will they stay? Is it a venue that is easy to contact, visit or decorate if necessary?

What traditions or conventions would we like to keep and which would we like to discard?
Is the formal sit-down meal a priority for you or? Do you want the Groom and his best man and ushers to look identical? Do you want to pose for formal photos?

What would we like people to be doing during our day?
This is the tricky one that we haven't quite established ourselves yet. It helps you pick a venue, but it can also be determined by the venue, for example if you're imagining a BBQ dinner, you've got to have an outside area to have it in! If you want people to be chatting, dancing, singing or drinking then you can encourage this by having conversation cards, a dancefloor, kareoke machine or a beer tasting selection for example.

I think your best bet would be to have a chat with your OH about what you'd both like and then take it from there. The more involved he feels, the more he'll help and the less stressed you'll be about decision making.

Phew. I'll shut up now! :silenced:
