    You give no indication of your houslehold size and how you use water- things like washing machine- infants- elderly infirm. With such lack of info your question is of the piece of string variety.

    I'm sure that if you can give some info you will receive help, so please come back!!

    ive just left anglian water as ive moved areas.. i was paying £35 per month for a 3 bedroom house in peterborough so £85 for 6 months for me would have been great..

    Sorry about the lack of information.I have a 2 bed EOT house.One daughter stays with me Mon to Fri during term time - she spends a lot of time in the bath.Other than that it`s a couple of loads a week in the washer.I`m not moaning about the cost of the water,just interested in whether or not I`m using a lot.
  • Hi, seems an ok cost - you may be able to save a bit more (get daughter to shower instead of bath!). I am also with Anglian Water, have a 3 bed terrace with 2 adults and 2 small children - we used 39 units in the last 6 months; the washing machine and dishwasher are on everyday, but we do save money by showering and we have a 'sit' bath instead of a standard bath, so it takes a hell of a lot less to fill. We are also on the SOLOW rate - no standing charge, although the units are more expensive, yet it still works out cheaper for us. We also have 3 water butts for the garden. Perhaps try the solow rate, you can always change back if it doesn't work to your advantage.

    I am retired and live in 3 bed linked detached with spouse , so we probably use a fair bit for cuppas etc. each bath every other day and I'd guess do 1.5 w/m loads a week. Our usage is about 112 cubic metres a year. On that basis I would guess you are not using a lot at all.

    20 units for 6 months is low, no one really has a "normal" usage because everyones circumstances are different.

    20 cubic metres is 20,000 litres

    20,000 / 182.5 = approx 110 litres per day.

    according to this calculator ;

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/in_depth/629/629/5086298.stm

    155 litres per day is about average so it sounds like your doing ok.

    The recommended point at which SOLOW (with Anglian Water) becomes worthwhile is 75 cubic metres a year.
    Not a charity just a different tariff.
    Not for everybody but rainwater is free, so why flush with expensive highly filtered drinkable and treated tap water.
