Agonising over whether to switch from Orange OVP

Tesco triples their credit now, top up £10, get £30 credit
I didn't put that bit in - what I meant was that their letter says they'll give you an additional £10 credit on first top up in addition to the £20 free credit you earn by topping up £10 - i.e. you pay £10 for your first top up and Tesco give you £20 free credit (which expires after a month) plus an additional £10 because it is your first top up.0 -
do they ? brill, so you get £40 credit from your first £10 top up

The additional £10 was mentioned in the covering letter that came with the free SIM and I wasn't sure whether it was credit that only lasted a month or credit that remained until you used it so I emailed Tesco Mobile. They told me:
We did have a promotion running with free of charge Pay as You Go SIM card’s ordered online. The additional free £10 after the first top-up does not have an expiry date, it will continue on your account until you have used it.
This makes it look like it is an old promotion but it is mentioned in the covering letter I received and there is no mention of it being a promotion or an expiry date so I will argue to get it if they don't automatically give it to me.0 -
Very interesting info - thanks.
I phoned up Orange late last week and got the PAC codes no issue, they didn't make any effort to keep me which was a bit disappointing after 13 years. I did say I wanted one of the phones onto a data contract... but their loss. Their best suggestion was to put both phones on a £25pm contract for a month then ask for a new contract deal after that... Hmmm...
You are right Tesco does look interesting, even their tenner-a-month SIM only. Will need to do the maths. We end up phoning a few 0870 type things a month (yeah i know you can "saynoto0870" but the situation may not allow it) and these are more expensive on Tesco (20p vs Asda 8p). But with the free credit.... !! Splitting hairs now and probably wasting time over tens of pence! Oh for transparent pricing...!0 -
My OH has Tesco Mobile and the free credit is great, but he has terrible trouble with the reception - it seems to be really poor where he works (which is in a large industrial estate in an urban area) he has had quite a bit of trouble with the reception in general so it might be worth bearing in mind - Tesco runs off O2 which has about 97% coverage whereas Asda runs off Voda which has about 99% coverage (Im on Voda SIM-only and have no problems with reception)*The RK and FF fan club* #Family*Don’t Be Bitter- Glitter!* #LotsOfLove ‘Darling you’re my blood, you have my heartbeat’ Dad 20.02.200
