Where is the local search and does it detail the planning permission and building control approval for the block?
Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Last news from the front line lol

We spoke to the neighbours and from what I can understand is that the block is of a unsound constructure, the house is built on a hill and its now subsiding, though i have inspected the whole building yesterday and didnt see any cracks, but i saw the walls that are very wet on the ground floor (the flat i want to buy is on the first floor) and i saw a water paddle near one wall and i am guessing its been there a while coz it started to rot now. I am assuming worst and think that due to subsiding the pipe may have burst and started to leak??

My fears are that I will not get a house insurance for the flat and if (or when) the house will start showing cracks the council will chuck the dwellers out? Or on the positive note they might underpin the whole building to stop it from cracking? What are the options?

The options are simple. Do NOT BUY THIS PLACE.

It's unsound. Unless you (and everyone else in the block) plan on spending huge sums of money to repair it then it will fall down.

    Walk away.

Seriously. It may seem cheap but the person selling it knows it's either going to fall down or it'll cost you more than you can ever imagaine to shore it up.

If you seriously plan on going ahead then you must pee money.

Thank you Sarah, I dont pee money, i wish i did, i really do. I really appreciate your and other's replies though, I have found this forum really helpful on every occasion.

Its just i live with my mum and really want to get out, but due to the house prices fall we cant sell our house well hence keep looking for bargain. But this seems like waste of money rather than investment. We will definitely walk away.

Steer clear, if they decide to pull it down, you will lose all of your money.
If they decide to repair it, you will get a bill for 10s of thousands which you will have to pay. If they do underpin YOU will have to pay your share of the costs.

    4. Water search report shows that sewage, clean and surface water does not drain to public sewer - does this result in any faults with drains will be the financial pain of the owners of the flats in the building? (((
    5. HIP report also states that the property is not billed for water and sewerage services - how come? free water?

I know you've lost interest, but on these points it sometimes means that it drains to a private sewer which is then connected to a public sewer (or a cesspit), and that the individual property is not billed for water/sewerage, it might be billed to a central body who then bills each flat individually.

Hi thank you, we did find out eventually that because the report came from Southern water it meant that SW doesnt bill that block for water it was some other local company who was in charge of water

That's the water which isn't fit for drinking?

Environmental regulations are getting tighter - any off-mains water or drainage system is a future liability.
A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.
