Normally just reprogramming the injectors sprts out the knocking noise on them. Not the nicest of engine though.0

This engine, especially in 130 bhp form is a rattley sod, mine rattles away and has done so for a couple of years, got slightly louder after the wife put some petrol in it by mistake, i just clean the EGR valve once a year and make sure i change the oil and filter and air filter every 6000, and every 12000 i do the diesel filter. Still does 50+ on runing around locally and high 50's on a run.
As it cost £2450 at the auction 2 years ago and has now done more than 100k i will take a look at it if it breaks down, mine is an 05/05 130 Tdci Hatch, have seen some do over 300k whilst rattling away for at least 100k of those miles, mine is most noticable on tickover, especially when the A/C is being used.
But for the money you can't beat the value, my brotherinlaw has a 1.8 petrol hatch on an 04/04, his is coming up for 130k still does over 40mpg on a run, he has put half of those miles on in the 3 years he has owned it and gave £3000 for it.
One thing if it does smoke a lot when you accelerate hard clean or replace the EGR valve before looking into injectors etc, they are one of the best diesel engines on the market for the money, and much more reliable than the fiat lump fitted to the Cdti zafiras and vectras. We have those at work and they are forever going into limp mode etc.0 -

is it the same bag of bo11ox made/designed in conjuction with the french and fitted to pug/citroen hdi's???0 -
I have always found my DuraTec engine is be very good and has NEVER let me down, it turns on the key EVERY time even when we had that really cold weather at the start of the year.
My car is coming up to its 100.000 miles on the clock now, still running a dream, quite and smooth.
Although OP, you have a different Ford engine, I don't like diesels, I think the DuraTec engines are pretty good0 -

The Pug/Cit/Mazda/Volvo 1.6 diesel is the same one Ford use.
They all seem to share them all.
The 2.0 is shared too in the later stuff.0 -
One over fuelling injector, which is the symptom your garage has diagnosed, will eventually lead to a melted piston. This assumes his diagnosis is correct, if it is, essentially your engine is trying to burn too much fuel in the cylinder with the injector fault, the piston will melt or one morning the injector will have leaked so much fuel into the cylinder over night, the piston wont be able to combust it and bend the con rod. Fix it now, dont wait for the service.
£200 ish now or £1500 for an engine0 -

It's worse, it's one Ford tried to bolt together without anybody to hold their hand.........
Only the 1.4/1.6 TDCis are PSA engines.

You have the V6 (I think you've mentioned it,) 100k is really nothing to get excited about on any engine made after about 1980. Like I've mentioned to you before, my four cylinder Mondeo petrol managed over 200k before somebody drove into it.

I thought they also used a 2.0psa diesel in fords, jags the same as in pug and citroens the 136bhp hdi?
Although I doubt it is as bad as the stupidly heavy cast dura torque 1.8tdci fitted in my tranny connect?0
