Faster Payments Transfer (2 hours??)

I know the whole faster payments system says "upto 2 hours" to become available in destination account, but everytime ive ever done a FP transfer its been in the destination account within a minute or less. I just had an FP done to my account and it still isnt showing after 40 minutes, has anyone ever had an FP take upto the full 2 hours to show in destination account?

  • It is rare but can happen. I once had an FPS from Halifax to LLoyds take about two hours or slightly more.

I thought as much. And im guessing if it doesnt arrive withn the next hour or so then its probably not gonna for 3 days, even though it did say gone by faster payments?
  • Who was it sent with - it should show up on the senders online banking what method the transfer was made by - check that is states it went via FPS. Sometimes for whatever reason, it cant and reverts to the 2-3 day transfer.

Sent from Natwest, 1300 to Alliance & Leicester... done many many FP's and always in within a minute or so. Natwest confirm FP.

Have moved from Halifax to Coventry BS, usually takes up to the 2 hours,(sometimes longer), has been known to not show until the following day even when sent a.m.

Recently been saying , " your payment has been accepted by the recipient's bank and funds will be available on the next bank working day", although it has even with that statement sometimes been there at the 2 hour stage.

I'm with First Direct (HSBC), my wife with Lloyds. Never takes more than a minute both ways.

Nationwide are live for sending all forms of payment less than or equal to £1000

you can send as much as you like to Nationwide, whether it goes by FPS is at the discretion of the sending bank.

How long this eventually take MrJam?

I'm waiting on a FPS payment from 12.35pm today. Just checked my bank's ATM at 2.10pm and not showing and won't allow me to withdraw. Gonna go back at 3pm with my fingers crossed. I received a FPS last month and it only took 20 mins! :(
