I'd be getting a proper pair of shoes
It's taken me years of experience to get this cynical

Hmm on the trainers issue I'd just say he's wearing his school shoes :) that always sounds acceptable.

To be honest I would have thought that it would be easier for boys as they have their school trousers and they can just wear a school shirt and a fun tie or if you can stretch to it a new funky shirt and tie, but I have to say I think he should wear smart school shoes too.

  • Can he not wear his black trainers from school? Or if they are knackered get him a pair for september a size up and bung 2 pairs of socks on?

Light trainers and dark smart trousers would look BAD lol. If he insists on weraing light trainers, jeans is the only way I think!

I'd agree with the smart shoes, if he has to wear trainers then make him wear the black ones.

What about Cords or Chinos ? Cab be dressed up with a smartish shirt but he could still wear them as normal clothes with a t-shirt or fleece ?

Have you got an ASDA near by? How about dark jeans, shirt (about £5) and his school shoes all cleaned up? I'm sure he'll look just fine. x

School shirt, school trouser, school shoes/trainers (black) and a tie borrowed off dad. Sorted.

as he is twelve - I am sure his school trousers plus a nice shirt and proper shoes or black trainers will suffice. but to be honest - have been to christenings where the youngster all wore jeans or shorts or whatever is in fashion. the vicars or priests dont care - I assume its the party after thats got knickers in a twist?
then go with black jeans if the shirt is worn outside them who is going to notice?
