Just done a booking on www.americanairlines.co.uk, where I was able to book it and get a quote (£1k flying out tomorrow). And that is return BTW.

Oh, need to book it as a multi sector ticket. BTW you won't be able to book it on BA.com, as they don't allow non BA flights. With AA.com you can specify to search all airlines.

Same should apply with Expedia, etc, if you ask to do a multisector iternery.

Therefore it will read: BHX-CDG, CDG-MIA, MIA-CDG, CDG-BHX. As long as the flights are all on the same PNR you are covered for missed connections.

ohhh... thanks .... I missed the all carrier option .. that said on AA.com , the cost was doubled and had to do a multisector search ( AA forces other routes instead).. and did not work on expedia for my dates

anyway booked now , so will just have to risk it ( sounds like insurance will cover if a problem )

please don't think that I'm being a clever sod, but when you did the flight search on AA.com, you did select that you were from the UK so that the flight would be priced in £'s rather than accepting the default (American) which would have priced the flight in $'s - which would have been just about double.

Was going to ask on that flyer forum, but thought better of it..

    I've booked

BA connect : BHX to CDG
American Airlines : CDG to MIA

and back again... on deeply discounted no change tickets, booked separately ( its a recognised connection on oneworld website, but none of the sites had it as a single booking.. instead offering much more expensive airlines/ routes )

I assume as both are part of "oneworld" ( does connect count ??? ) I will check luggage straight thro ?

I have a 2 & 1/2 hour transfer time in CDG... again I assume this is OK ( term 2A then 2B).. but what happens if there is a delay on earlier flight ....
IF missed connection would BA / AA try and get us on a later flight with another airline if available ( for both journeys no later flights with that operator on same day .. no real later alternative outward to MIA but Air France have later cdg- bhx flights) or would I have to wait until the following day .. if so who pays ?

Have you checked that you can check in for the CDG leg with AA before you get to CDG? If not you may find that waiting for your checked baggage from BA Connect flight means you miss the deadline for checking in with AA. Also it may also be tight even if you can pre check in but still have to make the deadline to re-check your hold baggage with AA.

Make sure your Travel Insurance is all ok. Good luck.

There will be an excess on the insurance policy that could be £50 or more for a missed connection, so there will be a cost.

Of course I did ... but just did it agai to recheck ;)

the combination on one just booking is coming up on aa.com at £1089 pp ( only comes up if I force it by demanding a stop at CDG as mentioned by pin .. otherwise from £715 for other obscure routes) but booking the same flights separately is £95 on BA plus £355 for the AA flight (tot £450 pp) ... although I actually paid £417 total pp when I booked , as they have both gone up today

I have 2.5 hrs .... although hoping I won't have to recheck baggage as "oneworld arrangement" .. although awaiting confirmation that CDG don't impose special rules... don't think today a good day to call an airline's call centre

My insurance ( LloydsTSB PLat - "free" ) excess is £40pp ( there's 3 of us) BUT for sometime now I paid a little extra ( £20 total this yr) to get excess waiver on non med claims .

you shouldn't have any problem checking in bags to destination at BHX. BA Connect and BA use the same systems and as they codeshare with AA its a simple procedure. BACON my pretend its low cost but its just BA Regional with a new marketing brand...hence the old infastructure is in place for interlining.
