Santander - joke

I know there is nothing new in moaning about Santander, but I just went into the ex-Bradford & Bingley branch in Cambridge to open a savings account with them.
Appointments only, and fully booked today (despite being told different at the ex-Abbey branch in the city). Whatever. But when the sole sole advisor in the branch appeared from behind the counter I was shocked - he slouched all over the place and was wearing scruffy trainers on his feet! Trainers! Santander just don't know how to run a bank and give service customers expect.

If you had to rate their sole advisors on a scale from A (the highest) to Z (the lowest) would that make him roughly an R sole advisor?

Why not open an account with your local building society (Cambridge?) rather than a foreign bank.
Be proud of East Anglia/England/Britain rather than carry the name of a place most cant find on a map.
Good luck

I have said it before and I will say it again, Santander are the clowns of the banking world. They are slated from pillar to post on this forum. My girlfriend was with them until their in branch service amongst other things became intolerable. Even if a member of staff truned up in a track suit it would not surprise me. Do yourself a big favour, go and get a proper bank account. My OH is now with HSBC and has never looked back.
She went from the world's local circus to the world's local bank. Santander - P**s up and brewery spring to mind. Good luck.Money is the headache, money is the cure!0 -

I agree with what you say about Santander. Out of interest I would like to hear about the experience you have had which has made you slate them so much.Money is the headache, money is the cure!0 -
I had a similar experience last week, went into a local branch and went to the counter and said " I would like to see someone about closing all my accounts" the advisor said you need an appointment and we are very busy opening ISAs so you'll be lucky to see someone til next week?
I said "dont need to see someone just want to close the accounts..can you do it...she said yes but it will take a few minutes and could I come back when it was quieter?
Went to another branch in another town went to the counter and said can I close my accounts she said "why do you want to leave us?"
I said cos I have opened an account with a proper bank HSBC...ha ha
