Hi Doc N. I also have a 3.96kWh system. I am in the sunny south East and have reached a high of 3612kWh (at least when I was looking) Maximum in one day just over 26.16kWh and every day this week, and most of last week over 20kWh. Already got more than the predicted level for April. :j
If I was wearing my gardeners hat I have to say I would like a little bit of rain...perhaps overnight?Enough money to live on so retired early...planning to see where life takes me:D0 -

There is a lot of very high thin cloud which is causing the lower output. Just occasionally the output has risen to my peak of just under 2.7kW but it has only been for a few minutes.
This lower output, even when the sun is shining brightly, adds justification to the use of an inverter which does not necessarily handle the maximum panel output - it is very rare you get full output as there is always some thin cloud even on the best of days and the loss of income is far outweighed by the lower cost of the smaller inverter.

Thanks, folks - that's very helpful, and reassuring too.
Just for the record, my April output stands as of now at 364 kWh (estimated average for the month 336). 20 kWh today so far.0 -

so hows that work out price return wise ..
what's it worth to you
is it 336 times 40 pence
which equals
£134
at that rate asuming at best you get it for 6 months of the year, if it cost £8000, it will be paid for in 10 years
assuming gov don't cancel or reduce the tariff
all the best.markj0 -

43.3p per unit FIT payment, plus 1.5p for the electricity fed back (based on the estimated 50% usage) - so a total of just under 45p altogether, plus the smallish savings on the electricity bill.
Estimated payback time around 10-12 years.0 -

Why would the government reduce or cancel the tariff for existing installations?0 -
Hi All
Latest spot pricing analysis for pv is now available ......

European manufactured panels remain at €1.61/Wp, no movement .... chinese panels fall a further 3.6% to €1.32/Wp ...... whilst the Pound lost out against the Euro by about 1.5% over the same period .....

I expect most people will have found their systems running much nearer maximum output over the last few days now that the air is coming from the south rather than the 'fuzzy' high cloud laden air from the east. Between the occasional white cotton-wool cloud today, I'm up to near maximum for quite long periods.

Have a listen to this, it is the second half of the 15 minute programme, broadcast this morning on BBC Radio 4:

Brilliant isn't it - I'm no expert but could the "tax" subsidies stack up like this:
£££..........Reason .............Purpose.
50/acre....Owning the land...Keeping it fit for possible agricultural production.
100/acre...Growing weeds....The the wild life like to eat them.
???/acre...Selling organic mutton..To cut the grass between the panels
??...........Selling the export electricity.
??.000.....Claiming the FiT.
??.000.....Saving on electricity drawn from the grid for factory farming.
But that is the economies of scale and the FiT is considerably less per unit than that being paid for domestic roofs.
Is that little lot all tax free?
Slightly more worrying is the legal case being taken to the (high?) court to get a ruling that the subsidies must be paid on fields of PV panels.
"That will blow the budget in 18 months", if they win.0
