Opened a policy and then cancelled it ?????

Where did you get this info from ?

I have actually been with budget for 3 years now !

This all came about because i tried to make a change to my policy as in i tried to change my husband from regular driver to named and me from named to regular!

So before spouting your mouth off maybe you could at least get your facts straight ?

As for my kids...just leave them out of this ok? They have absolutely NOTHING what so ever to do with you!

So you've just renewed?/got a policy and now want to cancel it. Big difference! Maybe you should have cancelled/changed before, then you wouldn't find yourself in this situation ranting and blaming them when YOU could have easily avoided it.

As for your kid, you're the one who brought him/her into this thread in post 1 and again in post 7 as if it had some relevance to how soon you should get a refund.

In fairness, HouseHuntr initial response was a little harsh but by the same token, you brought your child into it (why i dont know). I understand it must be difficult for you, but i cant believe anyone would think a debit card refund is instant. Surely you know the banks better than that by now? It generally takes 3 days but sometimes upto 5, you are at the mercy of the processing system at the moment and nothing can be done about that. I would say in response to HouseHuntr though, i have had current accounts with every major bank, Natwest, RBS, Halifax, HBOS, Barclays, Lloyds, Etc and if i have ever paid using my debit card, the funds have always been deducted immediately with the exception of pre-authorisation transactions where a small amount may be taken initially followed by the outstanding amount. Hope this helps.

Who exactly said that i wanted every member of staff to issue me with a refund?

Your not getting the jist here at all.......the people who i asked for a refund are either team leaders or mangers......

Are you trying to tell me they do not have the authority ?

In large organisations responsibility for crediting accounts falls to a relatively small number of people - most of whom never speak to a customer.

Manager actions the request, but they won't authorise it as well - decision and authorisation by one person is too open to fraudulent activities.

When a company takes money from your account, it may become unavailable to you immediately, but generally, they won't receive it for a minimum of 3-5 days. That time-scale tends to work exactly the reverse whena refund is issued.

Even if money is taken from your account straight away it still takes time to credit with whoever the money is going to. If it is going via BACS usually payments made before 3 are credited 2 days later, so refund made on Tuesday credited on Thursday. This is not always the case but is in most cases with BACS, assuming they did refund when they said they did

Judith , this post was really helpful so thanks.

The refund has now definately been made .

The person i spoke to was the manager of the budget call centre , he couldnt have been any more helpful if he had tried.

As well as setting up my refund , he also arranged for a compenstaion payment to be credited to apologise for all the hassle i have had over the past week.

The refund was authorised today at around lunchtime so if your estimates are correct then i *may* have my refund by thursday (fingers crossed).

The refund WAS done by Bacs because Stevemarsh mentioned this in an earlier post and i rung budget to check was it done in this manner.

    Thanks again

Unusual, a refund normally goes back through on the original method of payment, in your case, the debit card. Budget would need your sort code and account number to send the refund BACS.
Anything I post is my opinion, so from time to time I may be wrong. I try to provide answers based in fact, however I don't know everything, so (like all posters on MSE), take what I say with a pinch of salt.
