ho long for a refund ?

Hi all.

Owing a lot of hassle surrounding my car insurance with budget insurance (NEVER TAKE OUT INSURANCE WITH THIS COMPANY AND NEVER GIVE THEM YOUR BANK ACCOUNT DETAILS) , i have now found myself awaiting a refund from them to be credited back into my bank account.

I paid them a payment of £261 by DEBIT CARD and now that i have cancelled the insurance , they have assured me that they have issued a refund today.......

I would have thought that seeing as how it's a debit account , the refund would go straight back to the account (after all , when i use my debit card the amount is taken OUT straight away) . Budget however are claiming that the refund will take anything up to 5 days !

I really need this money now as i am without car insurance since last wednesday now and cannot buy a new policy with another company until budget refund the amount they owe me (£261)

I am getting desperate , i have a disabled child and to have no car insurance to get her about this past week has been impossible.

Any help regarding time limits for debit card refunds will be appreciated .

Thanks joanne

I'm confused, where's the problem? You're getting the refund, it's not as quick as you want, that's life! They obviously have admin procedures to follow.
Funds are NOT always immediately taken from a debit card when you purchase something just as they're not immediately refunded.

The money will leave Budgets account on the day the refund is processed. It then goes to a clearing centre who then pass it on to your bank. It all depends on how quickly this is done.

If you ran a business employing thousands would you allow all of those members of staff to give immediate refunds?

Check out operators can't do it in supermarkets so why would a call centre operative at an insurance company?

It's obvious that you havnt been reading my other threads.

How can you say that funds are not always taken from a debit account immediately ? I think you will find thats incorrect.......the money may not be physically TAKEN but if you spend £100 in a shop and then go straight to a cash machine YOUR AVAILABLE BALANCE WILL HAVE WENT DOWN BY THE £100 SO EFFECTIVELY THE MONEY HAS GONE !!!!

Sometimes i wonder why people like you post responses when you have !!!!!! all constructive to say...is it just to watch your post count going up or what?

Budget have arsed me around for a week now and im without my money (which they say has been refunded one day and then next day they say oh no it hasnt been refunded) and im also without car insurance and CANT buy another policy with any other company because budget have left me 7 pence in my bank account.

We also have a disabled child and i depend on a car to get her around so as you can imagine life is very difficult for me at the min...

Please try to see the bigger picture when you read peoples posts asking for help and always remember this moto...IF YOU HAVE NOTHING USEFUL TO SAY THEN SAY F**K ALL!!

    NOW....Wheres that "ignore" function......

    :rotfl::rotfl:

Why would I want to read your other threads? Are they as pointless as this rant and full of expletives too.
It's not surprising you're not getting anywhere with attitude like that and as for your kids (disabled or not), well if you use language like that on a forum where kids read, I dread to think what kind of language your kids actually hear from you!
Wonder why you opened a policy and then cancelled it?

Opened a policy and then cancelled it ?????

Where did you get this info from ?

I have actually been with budget for 3 years now !

This all came about because i tried to make a change to my policy as in i tried to change my husband from regular driver to named and me from named to regular!

So before spouting your mouth off maybe you could at least get your facts straight ?

As for my kids...just leave them out of this ok? They have absolutely NOTHING what so ever to do with you!

    Daveyjp.

Who exactly said that i wanted every member of staff to issue me with a refund?

Your not getting the jist here at all.......the people who i asked for a refund are either team leaders or mangers......

Are you trying to tell me they do not have the authority ?

If you re-read the post , you will see that budget not only took the POLICY PRICE but that they also took 2 OTHER PAYMENTS , so in effect they have took £500 for a two hundred pound policy

Do you blame me for wanting my money back?

    Paulmcerlean.

Thank you so much for this .

This thread has gone mad and apart from you and Bev , the others seem to be spending more time judging me than answering the original question.

Your answer was spot on , so thanks
