Claiming Interest back from Credit Card Companies

Hi

Having messed up with the date that my 0% deal ran out on my Abbey credit card, I paid off all the balance slightly too late, incurring interest. I rang up the cancellations department to cancel my card and when asked why I wanted to cancel, I pointed out that I thought the % interest charged was too high. They immediately refunded 30 odd quid interest, if I agreed to keep my card on. I will not use my card so I am quids in. :j They also offered me another 0% deal until Feb if I had a balance transfer.

The moral of the story is ALWAYS ASK ! They have a massive amount of discretion when trying to keep customers.

  • I have overdraft with Abbey as well a huge credit card amount and loan, I plan to try recover chg's on the debit card but read I need to first switch banks, how will this affect my credit card and loan, should I mention the fact that I also have those in the letter?
