Seller not returning my messages

I won a collection only item on Sunday, very cheaply. I've messaged the seller asking if they would like cash on collection & when I could collect twice and had no response. I'm wondering whether to pay by Paypal & hope that gets his attention, or ask for his details from ebay & phone him.
I realise that he doesn't have to sell if he wanted more for it. Also of course he could be away & unable to get home.
I know it's early days but impatience is my middle name.
What would others do please?

I would actually pay by paypal this evening, that has given them over 48 hours to respond.
Any seller that is hoping to get cash on collection needs to be pro active to be in with an email before the buyer cna use paypal, if they can't be bothered then protect yourself by making payment.

And I make no apologies for it. When someone buys from me I hurry my fat middle aged !!!! to the post office as fast I can drag it. I know, I expect far too much of people, like a seller wanting to sell an item they listed. Glum glum glum.
I was really hoping that like most people who sell something that they would invoice me pretty quickly.
Tomorrow I'm due to go part of the way to where he lives (about 50 miles from me) was really hoping to just have to add this on to the same trip.

Thank you & to Soolin, as usual.

    I will bide my time.:D

I'm now starting to rock. I paid by Paypal, hoping that would get him to respond, if only to refund & tell me that he wanted cash on collection & again asked the seller to contact me re pick up, to no avail.
I requested their details from ebay Thursday evening, so I'm just waiting for them to come through & I will try phoning.
They've been left feedback on an item sold the same day & collected, so I assume that they aren't stuck somewhere due to volcanic activity. Nor stuck to the side of a hospital bed of a stricken relative.
My next question please, is, would people bother calling or just open a dispute & when.
I get the feeling that a better, off ebay offer may have been made as it was probably worth far more then it went for. I won it for £5.50 and my top bid was over £50.00
    Thank you

I would give them a ring; opening the dispute may [however wrong this may be] make them feel they don't want to deal further with you and simply refund and not allow you to collect the item. At the end of it all you'll be able to leave appropriate feedback though.

If it was me i would refund your payment and i would no longer sell you the item, you would come across as a pos trouble maker.

You win the item, then email and expect an instant response, then pay by paypal when you wanted cash on delivery all within a day???

You wonder why they are avoiding you. :(

It isn't within a day. The OP indicates that the item was won on the 18th, and it is now the 24th. I would have paid by Paypal by now as well, as the sellers have had long enough to make some sort of contact.

I strongly suggest you actually read fully the posts before deciding that I'm a pos trouble maker, (interested to know what pos actually means), if you're unable to do that then please do not respond to my questions.
You have either not read it properly or not grasped the information within it & also made an awful lot of assumptions.
I would not be wanting cash on delivery , as I am the buyer, so would not have bid on my own item, that is of course illegal as several posts this week have pointed out a recent court case involving shill bidding.
I was asking the seller whether they would prefer cash on collection, as most sellers do of course prefer that, as a seller myself I certainly encourage it. The seller didn't respond, I asked again, still no response.
That's when I paid by Paypal, on the fourth day so that the seller couldn't report me as a NPB.
I then messaged again to say that if they preferred cash on collection, I would be happy to do this & they could refund the Paypal payment, also asked for a suitable collection time.
I am now waiting for their details from ebay so that I can give them a call, this is 6 days after winning the item.
I fail to see how that could be construed as pos? trouble making.

I would rather call them first as I certainly don't want to be opening disputes if I can help it, so far they haven't dealt with me at all.
They sold another item the same day as the lot I won & that has already been collected & feedback left for them from the buyer.
If they don't wish to sell at the price it went for then I would rather they let me know.
Hopefully ebay will hurry up with the contact details, I thought that I would have received them quite quickly.

I think you have a bit of an idiot for a seller and would certainly consider opening a dispute on the 7th day after payment.
