Sale on bulbs in focus - clearer signs please!!

I know it was only a small amount involved but it really irritated me! OH and I were in Focus this afternoon and I noticed the summer bulbs were half price according to the large sign. well the packs were labelled 3 for £5 and underneath £2.49...... so i thought oh lovely 3 for £2.50 so took my selection to the till and was a bit taken aback when she said £3.75.
I said i thought they were half price and she said yes the packs were half price. hmmm quickly worked out that at £2.49 a pack then half price per pack was £3.75. so I just said that perhaps in that case the sign should also say that previous offers didnt apply.

consoling myself with the thought that at least i saved all of ...£1.25!!!!

was I being unrealistic expecting to get the three packs for £2.50????

yes, a mistake happened and you had the chance to refuse buying them at that price

  • Agree with the above poster. I would have taken it as each pack was half price rather than half of £5. You were probably so chuffed with your bargain that you may have missed the small print on the half price sign, which probably read 'not in conjunction with any other offer' :D

I agree with the OP - if I'd seen that sign I'd have assumed that the bulbs were 3 for £5 and then further reduced to half price. It's not such a long shot - bulbs are often drastically reduced throughout the season.

actually snapping - I didnt miss any small print cos i looked for it, having worked for years in retail, and the A4 sign only said 'Half price summer bulbs'!
and there were three of these signs on the one island and nowhere did it say anything about single pack prices or previously offered prices.

They had this in my focus too but there was a notice at the side saying that the half price didn't apply with any other promotional offer ( 3for £5) so it was made clear in that shop.

I think it's clear that they're either half price, OR 3 for £5 (which is the normal offer, but obviously not good value when they're half price...).
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

thats exactly my point maypole!!! and this should have happened in my local store but didnt. as i work in retail i wasnt that surprised but irritated that they hadnt made it clear the 3 for £5 no longer applied.

just another small annoyance I know - but clear signage is so important in epos stores and the management KNOW this!

Could just be a mistake though, they probably have hundreds if not thousends of items of POS so it is expected for errors to occur

    I agree, it is annoying.
In the same store a member of staff told me that everything on the stand were bulbs, when clearly there were some perennials, so they should really know what they are doing so that you don't get to the till and be disappointed.

Totally unrealistic and having supposedly worked in retail, you should know better.
