KLMs T&Cs only makes mention of rights to EU passengers on flights 'leaving' the EU but the link does not take you to tell you about these rights.

    "4. Passenger Rights
Depending on applicable (European) law, a Passenger may qualify for certain passenger rights in case of denied boarding, cancellation or delays. For flights departing from countries in the European Community these passenger rights can be reviewed on Carrier’s website (www.klm.com). "

The Air France website says "2.3 In the cases referred to in paragraph 2 of this article and except as otherwise provided for by the Convention or the European law in force, the choices offered in sub-paragraph (b) are the only choices the Carrier is obliged to offer the Passenger."
The choices refered to are refund or rebook only.

Suggest anyone who is not provided for under the 'duty of care' write a letter of compalint to KLM. If the result comes back say 'we dont accept liablility' or something similar contact the Dutch authorities:

I can tell the news reports are getting desperate for different stories and pictures to show. I think you should copy the above and email it all the TV news channels (BBC, Sky, ITV etc etc). They will be particularly interested in filming the heaving room full of people that KLM have abandoned. The power of the media is going to be a better chance of hope.
I'd love to do that Ponkle, but how are the tv crews going to get there to film the people KLM have abandoned?

They have reporters and crews all over the world. For reporting on disasters and things. There will be some in Singapore or neighbouring countries.

Email exactly what you mailed on here to the ones I suggested above and title it well to grab their attention. (as they will be receiving tons of emails).

Do it, its worth it. Get your family to shame KLM over and over on TV.

Forgot to say there are freelance reporters all over the world. That is why you suddenly see reports from various parts of the world from reporters you've never heard of before.

Do it now. The news companies are desperate for good stories and different takes on things. Soon they will become bored of all this (depending what happens in the world to grab the news) and it will become small items. So DO IT NOW. :)

Ok...as I emailed bbc local my daughter texted me to say she's had a boarding card for a flight out of Singapore at 2359 local time, bound for Amsterdam.

They've been told it's not guaranteed but just to hope for the best while the situation remains uncertain.

They are (I think) about 7 hours ahead of UK in Singapore so 2359 there will be about 5pm here.

I checked KLM website and the flight is listed as "Planned".

Keeping my fingers crossed that she will at least make it to Europe.

How can I find out if the plane has actually left Singapore? KLM still show it as "Planned". Singapore airport website isn't showing the info.

Can I track the plane somehow?

Hi Zaksmum, hope your daughter and bf get home quickly

    Doesnt surprise me.
Part of my family are over in Dubai and my brother asked me to contact KLM from the UK over the situation.
When i spoke to the airline they stated they were not liable due to Dubai been outside the Eu.
After stating the Eu regulation they just denied any understanding.

Just received info that KLM has booked my family on a flight for the 28th April .
Still will not offer any help or assistance.

Been told to contact KLM in Dubai but no answer due to long wait and now offices are closed

KLM are really going to great lengths to avoid their legal responsibilities.

There should be plenty of people willing to gamble on an EU Class Action in a few weeks time!!
