Hi all. I'm looking to get a new internet package as I've just moved into a new flat and the Sky internet they have runs out in a week. I've been looking at the Be Value package which costs £7.50 a month and gives a 40gb allowance. Has anyone else purchased this package and what is it like? Has there been any problems with it? Also, how big is the 40gb allowance, how many hours/web pages does it give you per month? I like to download episodes of Lost and some albums so obviously that would take up some of the allowance. Well that's pretty good! Does the 40gb allowance count towards any online play if you use a PS3?0

Ah. Thought that maybe the case. How much does a PS3 online use up say on a 2 hour session? Are there any decent unlimted allowance packages out there currently?0

Do you have a mobile phone with O2 - or could you switch to them?
O2's unlimited package starts at £12.50, but if you have a mobile with them you get a £5 discount so it's £7.50 - and unlimited - plus there are often generous cashback offers through the likes of Topcashback.
O2 and Be are one and the same I believe.Long-haul Supporters DFW 120

Yep, O2 now own Be so it's the same under-the-hood. Though I believe there are slight differences to the packages (Be offer up to 24MB, O2 is up to 20MB - though would only affect you if you lived reaaalllly close to an exchange).
I've been with Be for over 3 years now and recommend them. TBH I don't know so much about how the current packages compare to others out there, in terms of price. Because of when I joined, I pay £13.50 a month for up to 24MB, unlimited usage and so I am more than happy.
Unless you do heavy downloading (i.e. leaving your PC downloading a lot of the time), 40GB should be more than enough. In all the time I've had mine, even though it's unlimited, I've never got even half way towards that in a month. There are numerous calculators out there that would help you work out how much you might actually use (e.g. http://www.broadband.org/usage_calculator.html)0 -
In addition, BE won't charge you more if you do over 40 GB. If you go over regularly they will just move you on to the Unlimited package.0

tech support really good if you have problems (not saying you will i havent in two years ive been with them) yes be are owned by O2 but the differences are that BE have their own equipment in the exchange and dont piggy back off O2's equipment. eventhough being owned by O2 theyre worlds appart. O2 provided me with a respectible 2.5 MB download speed i live 3 miles away from exchange
i switched to be and get 5 1/2 mb download speed, you can aslo tweak your line profile with be OPTIMIZED, STANDARD, RELIABLE and gamer mode also can be used with any of the three profiles.0 -
Though you don't get that with the BE Value package.atrixblue.-MFR-. wrote: »...you can aslo tweak your line profile with be OPTIMIZED, STANDARD, RELIABLE and gamer mode also can be used with any of the three profiles.Stompa0 -
Great advice everyone. Didn't realise that about going over the 40gb allowance Donnie, that's a bonus. I'm thinking though it would take a lot of downloading and computer use to go over the limit. I reckon I download many one film a month and 5-7 albums.Use my computer everyday (2 hours in total a day) and I'm looking to get a PS3.I'm hoping that won't go over the limit.0
