Yorkie - I would say BR is an option for you but best let your local CAB advise you.

I had a look at the budgeting tool but my outgoings are a minus number before debt payments come into it.

If you go to CAB they also advise on maximising your income and talking through other possible options, we don't just deal with debt :)

I have had my appointment and it looks like bankruptcy is best option. I have a joint account with my partner at barclays, this account is not overdrawn and have no intention of making it so. Once bank know I'm bankrupt what will happen to account and how will it affect my partner. Thanks in advance.
  • Is it the basic Barclays Cash account?

No it's not a basic account as I have an overdraft option, sorry don't know name of account but it's the account we use for paying bills by DD.
  • You will not be allowed an OD facility. Are you in the OD at the moment? If not go and get your name taken off the account and then everything can carry on as normal with that account.

If you want an account as well the Cash account is the one you want.

The account is not OD, do I need to tell the bank I am planning to go bankrupt?
