Where did I say it didn't arrive within 2 hours? It was sent from Halifax at midnight and arrived at Lloyds at about 12.01am.
At what time did you initiate the payment? Midnight, or several hours earlier?
No need to get in such a huff
    No huff here.
we all get it wrong sometimes. The point of this thread was just to let people know what will happen to their money sent out from a Web Saver account...
You still haven't clearly established the fact. My last post actually explained what I think has happened.

By the way, I have genuinely tried to guide you on this. If you don't appreciate, that's your problem.

Then you're giving them wrong information by implying Websavers support FP directly ..... they don't! Nor do they support DDs, despite the T&Cs used to say otherwise.

But they do support SOs ..... and Halifax send SOs via FP. But it is not the same as an immediate FP, as SOs don't work outside Mon - Fri.

If you sent it via the Websaver and it's showing FPI as a posting code ..... then, as opinions4u ventured, it's because they've now established a partial internal link to Lloyds. It's not a full one - as they just say 'Transfer'.
If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !

No its not!!! It works to HSBC too. I know it's not a Faster Payment in the perfect sense as it isn't being sent straight away, but we already knew that. The point I am trying to make is, that if you send a transfer, not a standing order, from a Web Saver account of less than £1000 it will be sent at 12am on the next working day via the Faster Payments system and will arrive in ANY bank that accepts incoming Faster Payments.

I refer you to something I said in post #10.

I suppose it is possible that it's been treated as a standing order which would usually be paid by Faster Payments overnight.
But hey, I must be in a huff over that.
  • My advice is open a Halifax Current Account online. It is easy if you have already a websaver and can be opened in minutes. If you dont meet the credit checks open a Easycash account and it will do the same job in regards faster payments. What you do you simplly transfer it from your websaver to your current accont and vice versa. You do not even have to use it as a main account and if the current account is the reward keep on depositing £1,000 in bits each month and you will also get a £5.

All current accounts will be automatically enabled to send Immediate Faster Payments using the Faster Payment Service. However this service is not available for sending payments from savings accounts"

But Faster Payments work on demand, not just after midnight - and they work on every day. Now try it on a Sat with a Bank Holiday following - and see if you can still claim it's a 'Faster Payment'? It's a SO ........... they are intrinsically different to FP.

Hmmm this thread seems to be going round in circles.

Can we agree, for the benefit of people who read this, on the following...

    1. Halifax Web Savers do not support Immediate Faster Payments
    2. They DO support next working day Faster Payments for amounts of less than £1000
    3. Opinions4u is NOT in a huff

I should've seen this thread earlier... I just blindly trusted the sort code checker and thought my Web Saver (Reward) supported inward FP's.

Web Saver surely supports outward Faster Payments (perhaps I should put one 'now' here, as this thread is 1-y-o, but then, I've had my account for... whole 3 days lol ). I made a transfer today (Friday) for under 1k to my HSBC Bank Account and the money was available within seconds. However, the return journey appears to be taking longer than a day and I suppose it'll take the standard BACS delivery time. Damn! Stupid me! :wall: I should've sent the money to my Halifax (Reward) Current Account and then put it into the Web Saver... I just believed the sort code checker and sent it straight back to the Web Saver. Wrong! Apparently, for some crazy reason, only outward FP's work with the Web Saver.

... provided that anyone cares, of course...

Edit: Actually, I first moved the money from the Web Saver to the Reward Current Account, and then sent it out... My mistake. :o

Halifax Web Saver accounts do support inward faster payments. I can only assume there was a system problem (either at HSBC, Halifax or with the whole FP network) that caused your payment to go via BACS.

While they are not supposed to support immediate Faster Payments (yet) they will later this year. That said, I'm surprised that they would test this prior to moving on to the Lloyds TSB platform.

The good news is that I'm still not in a huff ;) .
